So this very stupid Three Percenters flag is also called the Nyberg Flag, because it was designed in 2008 by a woman named Gayle Nyberg, to be used by the first generation of Oath Keepers, who at the time were just a nascent "technically not racist" fascist group largely based in the South, who hated Obama and immigrants for totally not racist reasons.
I found a Washington Post article from 2005 about a Gayle Nyberg from Southern California doing civilian border patrols, so I will assume this is the same lady? She was 56 at the time, so chances are she's no longer around.
You still see this flag around, in the basements of MAGA chuds, who probably don't even know what it means, because all of that Three Percenter / Oath Keepers stuff is still around, but has been largely subsumed by MAGA. And it seems to mostly be lingering Boomer second-gen conspiracy theorists, who still think Democrats are planning to start a race war that will be won by elderly men with diabetes who keep lots of ammo in their RVs. Interesting to me how this stuff is so quaint now, in the face of all that has happened. Like I guess they won? Sort of? Except I can't imagine they're happy about the Epstein stuff or the Iran War thing. They always claimed to be libertarians, and MAGA is NOT a libertarian administration. The "Three Percenters" thing is this goofy myth that the American Revolution was supported by / won by only 3% of the population. Casting our glorious democratic revolution as a victory of righteous Anglo-American fascists over...gay British monarchy? Or something? Which was bad? As usual with these people, it's hard to tell what they think happened or what part of it they liked. I guess it's just an ethno-populist thing, except the WHOLE POINT is that they're saying it was a movement of a violent minority group with a righteous imperative that supercedes democracy. So...why?
