Your Back, Jack.β β Homage to the baddest wrestling tag team of all time, the Road Warriors.β β You want trap thickness and height?β β Shrug heavy and shrug long.β β Heavy is easy using a barbell. Start slapping on 45s. I'm allergic to 10lbs lol.β β If you're a lightweight, no worries. Use 45 and 25 lb plates.β β On this day, I liked the 5 x 5 method.β β Warm up sets of 5 reps. Rest 60s. Slap on another 45. 5 reps and repeat.β β Once you get to your 5 rep max that's when your 5 working sets of 5 reps start.β β Done.β β As for the dumbbell shrugs I tend to lean on the side of excruciating volume of reps.β β Grab the heaviest set of dumbbells your gym has. I have to work with 100lb dumbbell limits and hence the method to my madness for commercial gym.β β 20 reps for the thickness. If you'd like to work some grip strength then ditch the straps shirley.β β You can make the two part of your trap workout.β β Heavy barbell shrugs first then the volume of the dumbbell shrugs.β β Your traps will be pre-fatigued with the heavy work of barbell shrugs and those dumbbell shrugs will feel even more excruciatingly good.β β Again, train safe and always progress confidently.β β We need the strong to survive clown world.β β That's it for now.
