Your hands were always calloused when you were growing up. A butcher’s kid, you were. Grew up in the heart of District Ten. You were good at wrangling the cattle and getting them in for slaughter. It wasn’t particularly a life you were fond of. Just the way things were. But you were oldest, and you were second eldest in a family of seven children. You didn’t have much choice.
When you got reaped, it was like all the complacency inside of you snapped. You were enraged at the situation you were put in, and enraged for the situation your family was put in. All that brutality that was inside of you, the skills you had from back home, made you a warrior for the games, coming out on top from sheer force. But it left you broken in many ways. Apart from the damages inside, you lost half your left arm in an explosion with a tribute. Just a constant reminder of what you lost. Even now, after all this time, you know that rage and brutality still sits inside you.

BANDI KEENPATH: You’ve never known what to make of Bandi. You’ve spent years together, and you can spot when Bandi zones out. You know that look. It’s a look you get from time to time too. Where you think too hard about all the pieces of the puzzle and it starts to make your brain rot. You’re not entirely sure if Bandi is built to handle it, so you usually pull them out. You wouldn’t call it “friendship” so much as unspoken, or maybe even unaware, mutual understanding.
PISTA CLEARMARK: You fight on Pista’s behalf most of the time. Having won around the same time, the two of you became friends. Sure, there’s limited time the two of you get together. Pista works on trains most days of the year, but the two of you have written letters back and forth every year. Unbeknownst to them, you’ve been trying to fight the Capitol to get Pista to retire since the day they were put in those trains. You never want Pista to know, of course, but they deserve better.
BLYTHE BEESLEY: Friendship would certainly be a strange word for you and Blythe. You admired them a lot. They have a fire inside of them that makes itself known daily, whereas yours in inside you, waiting to come out. Maybe they’re a bit of an enabler when it comes to your rage, but they just so easily tap into a part of you that’s usually buried, you give in to the anger easily. You know though, deep in your mind, that you’ll run each other into the ground.
