#deep magic

Because it has to come from you. Human princes, returning the egg to the Dragon Queen. That's the gesture that matters. That could end the war, and change the world. / Humanity was given something it was never meant to have. And so there was a calamity.

At first, it reminded me of the Deep Magic symbol, or even the rune for the Infantis Sanguine spell.

Yet, part of me wondered if I was misinterpreting it. However, I don't recall seeing anything similar in the primal sources, either as a rune or a symbol (though I could be wrong).

Then I remembered Aaravos's cape from the first two seasons, which had two fasteners with a design reminiscent of Deep Magic.

Looking at the two images side by side, the symbol really evokes Deep Magic. Both feature a circle surrounded by lines. However, the brooch has fewer points and an additional circle.

So, is the symbol on Rayla's brooch meant to represent Deep Magic? Could it be a new rune from Deep Magic, or is it an entirely new symbol? If so, why is it there, and what might it mean?

Given the level of detail in this show, I doubt the symbol was added without intention. Then again, maybe I’m reading too much into it. Perhaps the symbol is loosely inspired by Deep Magic—or something else entirely—especially since the teaser was made in a rush.
