Godos: How We Became Friends
I had the idea of how Fyodor and Nikolai would describe how they became friends, and it's not enough for a fic, so I wanted to just share it here:
Nikolai: "Well, we were friends from the moment he invited me to tea. Oh yes, with most people, it's necessary to go through the scripted proceedings. To meet, to talk passionately about nothing in particular, to go away and come back, again and again, until you gather the courage to make a modest comment about the state of our Holy Russia--and from then on you settle into a routine of food, drinks, and stimulating conversations. But with Fedya, it was different. We met, and knew each other for twenty years."
Fyodor: "Yes, from his perspective, he's not wrong. But it isn't that we forwent getting to know each other. Sometimes, when two souls meet, it's as though they've known each other for all their lives. Perhaps, before they were born, they did. When we met, I felt that we were close friends who would soon know one another very well, and remain intimate for the rest of our lives."
...It's something like that. I'm not exactly capturing it, but I hope this brief sketch at least conveys what I was trying to visualise. I think it's important in my developing understanding of how their views on the world differ and converge. Where they agree and where their individual perceptions change how reality was.
Since I've mostly been working on sequences of events and character progression until now, having the first glimpse of how the same scene looked from both sides is really exciting!
For some reason it doesn’t seem like my December 2022 Writing Update got posted here on Tumblr earlier when it should have so...here’s the link!
Within this post you’ll find news of upcoming publications, a social media-related update (yes, I got Bookbub!), as well as what my posting schedule will look like for this month!Â
Thank you so much for all of your support so far! I really appreciate it.
