There's a lot that's goofy about this event chain, but my favorite part was this:
I don't know is Shigemichi saying that is literally a death flag (ie, if him saying that literally triggers an event or something that causes him to be targeted by Gnosia), but I hope it is. He declares his love and his intent to make good on it, then immediately gets retironied.
I want to direct a movie or game where I make it seem like a character is gonna die repeatedly but just never does. I don’t mean putting them in dangerous situations, I mean using foreshadowing. Like they’ll talk to the main character and give an inspirational speech that just BEGS to be used as a flashback in the final battle. They constantly mention how close they are to retirement. The character isn’t really flushed out beyond being liked by everyone. They say to their friend that they would jump on a grenade for them. Literally every single death flag trope, but they just live the entire way through.
anyone else get the awful feeling that as soon as Sam starts figuring Magnus out Colin is gonna die or disappear??
“I’m bringing every single one of you out of this place alive.” “Don’t say things like that,” Jason admonished. “That’s a huge death flag. You might as well pull out a picture of your girl from back home, explain that you’re about to be a father and that you’re two days away from retirement.” “Jason, this is serious,” Humphrey said. “I am serious,” Jason said. “How would you feel if I said that nothing can possibly go wrong?” “Definitely don’t say that,” Neil said. “Don’t go tempting fate,” Sophie agreed. “Fate can’t wait to kill us all.”

source: One Punch Man. Story: One. Art: Murata Yusuke. “Punch 163: Absolute Evil”.
Also I’m even more concerned for Hunters safety. If there is more than one of him around. Than Belos might view him as expendable in the long run.
And there was a giant walking death flag at the start of this episode. That was really hard to miss.
