A Second Translation - Webcomic Chapter 160
Well I've probably missed this conversation wherever it's happening, but it's whatever. Regardless, I am giving a crack at this because I believe there is something here worth discussing. Granted, everything I am about to say is based on the English translation, so my view is limited to only what I can understand. I am putting my faith in the translators that they have done a fantastic job of giving us a view of the contents of the "gibberish" that were delivered. With that said, let's get into what has caught my attention since it's release...
What did Genos say?
The metallic whispers are like an air purifier with an apple seed mane, his mind is not here "He is trying to purge my mind and fill it with poison"
In other words... the deliverables buried in the black box are a paragraph wrapping the void of revenge, which is why the dead of night turned into a dot "He manufactured a bottomless need for revenge in me, but it was pointless"
Along with intentional walking the final touch of the dragon, I am laughing away the arch of fantasy's foot with the 7th army "In my single-minded pursuit of strength, I have been molded into the ideal soldier"
An arrogant piece-of-shit movie and the trajectory of a game of tag are already a specific counterfeit "I was so focused on chasing your life that I didn't realize I was being fooled"
In this busy current world, a beautiful conundrum, as a souvenir, even if it's just a severed head "I'm left with only a shred of my humanity to hold on to"
Disregarding electrical control, a continuous multiplication of trial and error... No, the sense of rushing speed I understand is the result of an explosive entering to the point of giving a piece of one's mind "I couldn't get stronger from constant upgrades and mechanical power... so I tried to overcome through a burst of sheer willpower"
There is a possibility that a flower is blooming in the tear of my vision... "And thus I had an epiphany..."
However, the core essence visible ahead of where the outsmarting of the atmosphere was detained is once again a beast trial "I truly believed I could reach greater heights and win, and gave everything I had in one more fight"
The collection of the terrifying husk is the appearance of a threatening larva, hurrying the ultimate solution "But now I have become the ultimate weapon meant to purge the world"
The private removal is an illusion approved by a decisive arrangement to kill Saitama, who is in the heavy rain reminisced in a license "I have been ordered to kill you, Saitama, though you won't fight me due to obligation"
Even so, that's why you bastard... That level of nutrient is a beast-of-burden stew of slaughter, and saying it's a cave and the summit... "I was a fool...I tried to apply what I learned from you, and I truly believed I could reach your heights how you described..."
I don't accept the reason for soaking what kind of fate into my own combination, which I helplessly arrived at through a competition resounded by unprecedented external pressure in recent years... "It's not fair that this is what I have been reduced to, I didn't ask for this and with everything I have gone through..."
Just how many times do you have to recycle before you intend to retire from pious playing with fire?! "How long do I need to suffer before you kill me?!"
I first approached this from the idea that it wasn't "Genos" talking anymore because of the line "his mind is not here", but the further you go into the spiel the more I could still see Genos in it. I then modified it so that it's still Genos talking to Saitama, but the visuals gave off a feeling that Genos is angry with Saitama, especially with calling him a bastard. After giving it more time, this also doesn't make sense since just before the modification is done, Genos had full confidence that Saitama would arrive and save the day. Surely he wouldn't flip that quickly? So, if he's not angry at Saitama, who is he angry at?
Himself. The Mad Cyborg. Life.
We don't know what's been poured into this poor boy's head, but whatever it is, it's clearly Very Bad(tm). The reason Kuseno/MC is doing all this in the first place? Probably. Plus, this is after finding out that the monster that created him, the very same one he's been "chasing", has just been using him this whole time. After finding out that same monster didn't bother remembering anything about Genos's old life (or so he says, at least). After he just applied everything he'd learned from his dear teacher, only to essentially come to a draw despite his best effort. In fact, you could argue he lost, since he was incapacitated before the real threat was defeated. He believed with his entire being that he'd win, and he still lost. I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty broken after that.
I will admit now that some of these lines are a stretch, but I think there is something there. I think Genos is trying desperately to communicate to Saitama in an attempt to get him to understand the depth of the situation they've both found themselves in.
The one time Genos cannot afford to summarize it to 20 words.
All of this because I remembered apple seeds have cyanide in them...
