Hey guys, 

So for those of you who follow my blog, you’ll know that I absolutely adore my black women and love celebrating them. So I’ve created a blog @dailyfictionalblackgirls in order to post solely about black female characters in television, film, cartoons, comic, anime, musicals and all other mediums.

However 

THE BLOG NEEDS MEMBERS

What we’re looking for:

Moderators to reblog content: i.e: gifs and graphics from other blogs

Meta writers: I want this bblog to be a safe place for discusion so if you have a lot of opinions espcially the treatment of back female charcters then come through

gif and graphic makers: it would be wonderful if we could have some contributrs to make original content for the blog!

Even if you feel that you cannot commit to being a ful time meber of the blog, the blog does need a header and I need some help with creating the tagging system/page so that would be well appreaciated

Video, icon makers also welcome if you feel you have something else you can bring drop me a line and let me know.

Submissions to the blog are welcome as well as asks if you’d like to come by and discuss a particular character or show. I’m still taking ask on my personal blog but it would be cool if there could be some dicussion on this blog.

I like to have fun on this blog, but I thought I should touch on some serious matters, considering all the things going on as of late.

A potential series if you want…..

“Valerian?” The man that I had just passed looked exactly like…him.

“Ivy?” He replied to my call, facing towards me. For a moment I felt like time had stopped. He seemed to be even more beautiful than how I had remembered him. His hair was streaked with light shades and his cheeks were tanned, signifying plenty of time spent in the sun. He was also soaking wet, inexplicably to me.

“l’d heard you were back. What are you doing?” I asked. Time resumed after I remembered what he had done. Three weeks had passed since the news that the playboy had returned to the city. Which meant that there were three weeks without a phone call, or text, or email.

“Just…..swimming here. Wow, it is good to see you.” He gave me once-over, to which I don’t blame him. I have changed so much since he left. He no longer knows about who I am underneath.

“You were gone a long time.” I say. Small talk is the only thing that seems appropriate right now.

“l know. How are things?” By now, the two women who were with him are watching us from his car and the doormen are so obviously eavesdropping.

“The same.” He and I both know that I am lying.

“And your writing?”

“I had to leave it.”  I said this quietly. This was not a complete lie. I did have to leave writing for the New York Times. ‘Leave’ being a kind choice of words.  An intern position was being offered at the DA’s office. It was a more practical job, more closely related to what I was studying in, and it proved itself as worthy of my time and energy.

“But I thought you loved it.” He says with a smirk, like he knows something about myself that I don’t.

“I had to make a sacrifice, Valerian.” Privileged white boy has never heard that word, I’m sure.

“For the-”

“Yes.” No. Not completely. But what business is it of his. He left. He left me, and New York, and the team. And for what? Skinny, pretty, airhead models. He would sleep with them tonight, throw them out tomorrow, and restart his lady-killing cycle. It seemed that the Valerian I knew before never existed. And now I was left to wonder; if he had never left, would I have become one of his conquests?

“And is that why you’re here now?” He asked. But he wouldn’t get an answer. He wasn’t part of my life for the last few months. He doesn’t get the pleasure of getting to know about what I do and why I do it.

“I have to go. It was nice seeing you again.” I turn quickly, turning towards the party. I anticipate him to just let me leave but he does what I least expect.

“Ivy-” He grabs my arm and pulls it just hard enough so that I have no choice but to face him.

“Let’s meet, let’s talk, sometime.” He says sweetly. His expression is genuine, but letting him back in will only lead me back down the path that I have worked so hard to get off of.

“I’m busy.” And it’s not a lie. It’s the truest words I’ve ever told him. After he left, working was all that I did. I held my head up for as long as I could and when I couldn’t any longer I would take sleeping pills, just so I wouldn’t dream.

“It doesn’t have to be now, tomorrow maybe, or later this week.” He was always good at bargaining with me.

I still wanted him. I knew that desire made me weak, and that feelings and the project were to remain separate, but I still wanted him.

“I’m always busy.” This is what I do because I have to. I push people away and I lie to keep them as far away from me as I can and now I’m doing it to him.

“Come on. You know you can’t change the world on your own.” He says with a knowing smile. I know it’s true but it doesn’t mean I’ll take that statement from him.

“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. Besides, what choice do l have when you’re too busy swimming?”

“Ivy, I know that you see this and…I've…I’m not…this isn’t me. It was once, a long, long time ago. But you have seen me change and I’ve only gotten better.” I looked him skeptically, not quite understanding what he was trying to get at. What he was doing now and what he had done in the past spoke for him more than anything.

“Valerian, it’s not who you are underneath…it’s what you do that defines you.”

Soooo…yeah. This was *quite obviously* influenced by TDK. The characters are my own and were inspired by, but not limited to: Bruce Wayne, Frank Castle, Diana Prince, Rachel Dawes, Dinah Madani, Karen Page, and many more.

I kinda don’t want this to be the end. I had so much energy and inspiration today for some reason and all of this came out. If anyone wants me to continue or has ideas, please let me know. Your feedback means the world to me. Also a story title recommendation would be great.
