This is my dart moth friend, Dr. Long. He is named for his mighty proboscis! He was stuck in my home for a few days, and was finally caught. I immediately took him up for analysis. The weather has grown too cold for him. When attempting to re-release him, he refused. I don’t think it helped that I had cooked up some moth pizza for him! (Tiny triangular mango slices). Oh, he LOVED his pizza!!! =)
We are together for the time being. I may try to keep him until after the storm, and then release him. He just seemed so hesitant to leave tonight. He climbed onto my shirt, then crawled directly onto the spot above my heart. He looked up at me as a cold breeze blew, like he was asking me if he could crash on my couch for a bit. It doesn’t help that it’s Christmas time, and all of the pesky lights are around. Pesky to moths, at least. I walk around and free moths from light jail, sometimes. That, and their water buckets. Moths really are damsels. You will just have to take my word when I tell you that I could NOT stop laughing as he ate the “cheese” on his pizza. They are just so adorable, so valuable in this world. He can stay with me as long as he wants — I will try to release him at any appropriate opportunity, of course.
