Those drastic cuts have food banks bracing for impact, and some grocery executives celebrating. On a late February earnings call of Grocery Outlet, a discount supermarket chain that relies on SNAP for a high percentage of its sales, the company’s chief financial officer cheered the coming reductions. “In many ways,” he told investors, it “is good for our model as those benefits decline.”
“It does put more pressure on those consumers, and they come to us to stretch their dollar,” he said of the impending cuts.

Brexit and university cutbacks are fuelling a crisis in recruitment of skilled workers
I've been talking lately with students about the necessity to justify our field of ancient history and all it encompasses, including archaeology. The benefits are intangible but real and very important. It would be a travesty if the archaeology in Britain suffered at the expense of 'progress'.
I just found out that Greyhound is cutting all service in Canada (source). While I imagine this decision is at least partly based on usage statistics, it's still super frustrating. It also comes on the tail of the news that the ONLY bus that runs from my hometown to the nearest city has been cancelled as well.
In an age of climate crisis, where we should be trying to reduce emissions in any way possible, we are instead cutting public transit back every chance we get. So, so frustrating.
I want to offer solutions, I want to be positive, but I'm drawing a blank here folks
