He ripped out most of the feathers that are between the joins except for the tail and wings because they have too much support, and he could reach the ones on the back, but he's supposed to be fully covered in them so when he had skin it acted as a plush insulator (he was basically a walking pillow) and the plastic bits were for added structure to make him stronger than the average addison, despite his size. So yeah the back of his head is completely soft, thank goodness darkners dont have brains -
