You heard movement, a shift in the room. “On the second floor,—“ the voice cut off when you heard the sound of shuffling then a zipper. Then your eyes widened. 

Your backpack!

You managed to gather something for yourself, and now whoever this was had it. You finally found food, and now you lost it. You were going to starve! “No” you breathed out. Your eyes widened and you quickly covered your mouth. What fucking idiot! 

Did they hear you? 

There was just silence. Maybe they had left while you were deep in your thoughts. The silence stretched. Maybe now you could—

The door ripped open, you yelped, pulling your knees closer to your chest, but no use. You were pulled by your collar, yanked out of your hiding place. Stumbling to the floor. You heard the click of a gun. “Wait, wait, wait” you called out, raising your hand in surrender. 

Your eyes were squeezed shut, while another hand subconsciously shielded your stomach. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was someone’s spot,” you cried. “I didn’t mean to steal, I’ll just leave okay, keep the bag?” You stammer, your bladder was almost threatening to make you piss yourself.

When there was no response you opened your eyes to meet brown ones. They seemed as surprised as you. 

He dropped to one knee, pulling your hoodie back, revealing your face. His eyes were showing a mix of emotion as they roamed around your face.

“You're…a survivor,” his voice cracked a bit as he cupped your face feeling your warmth, making sure you were real, “Thank goodness,” he breathed out.

His eyes turned to the side, he seemed to be listening to something in his earpiece. You have time to evaluate your situation. He was wearing a vest with the British flag on the center, was he in the British army? But underneath he was wearing a blue dress shirt and jeans. Not very military…

Maybe he just robbed a dead soldier. 

He clicked the radio on his chest

“2nd floor, I found something, Sir!” He called, standing up, eyes not leaving you. 

“Gaz!” You suddenly heard, his head momentarily looked away from you. To the door, then back at you.

“Second door, left!” He answered. Not long after someone barged through the room. 

“Yer a’right ?” He asked him and the first man jerked his head towards you on the floor. The other head turned to you. 

Two other men walked in analysing the scene. They were all in military gear and heavily armed. One with a fisherman’s hat, the other with a ski mask. 

They all looked not only surprised but a bit dazed, like they were seeing a ghost. 

“Christ…” one of them walked towards you, you shifted back slightly, he stopped. “Were ar’t gonna hurt ye,” he said. 

“What happened back there?” The masked one asked. 

You were not sure what he was talking about. “I found this place, I was just looking for food,”

“You were alone?” He asked, you nodded standing up. “My group left me…” you paused. Contemplating you were alone, these people seemed fed and somewhat clean. They must have a group too. You can’t tell them the reason, you were alone. You would lose your last chance. Before it was too big to hide under layers of clothes. “I found food, I’m willing to share, if you take me in, I can be quite useful.” 

“They…left you?” Gaz asked, perplexed. You nodded. 

There was a slight moment when they debated with their eyes. The two hopeful men suddenly looked defeated again.

“What's wrong with you?” The one with the hat asked, his voice was full of suspicion. You raised your shoulder, shaking your head. 

“Nothing's wrong with me,” you answered, 

“You’re better off not lying to me, love” he warned, “Are you bit?”

“What? No! I swear, I’m not!” Your eyes darted around the room.

“It’s summer, and you have quite a few layers on .” He said, 

“I-I get cold easily” you lied, he sighed.

“Take them off,” he asked, your eyes widened, you took a step back. 

“I don’t understand”

“Strip,” the masked man said, raising his gun. You raised your hand in surrender. 

“Sorry about this love but I will need to check your body,” Gaz said. 

Your eyes darted to all the men. If you removed your clothes they would see your baby bump. It just started to grow and be noticeable. “B-but, I have no bites, I promise” 

He shook his head. “Sorry love, can't take your word for it, if you have nothing to hide then it should be easy, yeah?” 

“You want to be taken in, that’s the requirement,” you sniffle looking around once more. You nodded, two of them turned around. While the masked man remained put hand secured on his gun. 

You removed your jacket and shoes. “Shirt and pants too” he ordered. You removed the rest standing with only your underwear, holding your side. It was easy to hide underclothes with a newly growing belly, with layers but now you were fully exposed. Your heart palpitated from their scrutiny.

Gaz took no time and stepped closer and removed the hand that was covering your chest, turning your arm around delicately, but hastily. His hand gliding over you, he turned you around and continued his search. You hadn’t been touched in a while, your hormones were acting up. Feeling goosebumps, shivering under his touch. If he noticed he said nothing. After a thorough inspection, he smiled softly at you. 

“No bites” he said, helping you dress back up, only when you were fully dressed, did Gaz spoke again. “All good,” he said and they turned back around, 

“Sorry, it was necessary,” The man said walking to you, you nodded.

“I’m John Price” he said  

“Yn Yln” 

The man besides you hesitated a bit, scratching the back of his neck.

“Not to be a knob but, are you…” Gaz hesitated looking at the other “perhaps…pregnant?” he asked, clearing his throat. Your face drained, he noticed. 

Your bottom lip trembled despite yourself. You seemed to cry a lot lately. “I promise it's not a problem-” you quickly said, they exchanged looks, you already thought it was over.  

“Hey, no, don’t cry,” he quickly held your hand. “That’s why they left.”

You heard a loud exhale, peeking over Kyle’s shoulder. The masked men had lowered his gun.

In no time you were sitting on a chair. 

“How far along are you,” John asked, you chew on your lips, glancing past his shoulder to the man with the masked man. 

“Don’t mind him, just look at me.” He said holding your chin guiding your eyes to him “Answer my question.”

“Five months…I–please don’t hurt my baby” you cried,

“Shh, it’s okay. That's quite the predicament you’re in,” he said looking down at your small bump.

“Was the father in the group?” Kyle asked, frowning. You shook your head. 

“No, he was the chief leader of the first group I was in…He said I wouldn’t get my period, He promised he’d take care of me, I’m was so stupid,”

“The bastard, he abandoned you?” 

You nodded slowly, “I didn’t want to get rid of my baby. I’m stupid I know, but I don’t have anything else just to me, they're my blessing,” you replied rubbing your bump, tears streaming down your face, “My recent group found out and I got kicked out again, b-but I’m not a problem I swear, I pull my weight.” 

The man in the room turned their attention to John, his arms crossed looking down at you, deep in his thought.

“That’s two extra mouths to feed, she will have no mobility in a short while, the brat if it survives will cry. Too many liabilities, Sir” the mask man said, shaking his head.

“Please let me stay with you just a little while, I can’t survive out there—please, I beg, you won’t even know I’m here, a-and I know I’m pregnant…but I don’t eat a lot and my baby will be quiet, I’ll make sure of it.” You continued to glance around pleading. “O-or” you licked your dry lips, “I-I’ll leave as soon as they are born, I just need time to gather things, yesterday they didn’t let me take anything with me.” 

“The ones up in the abandoned school were the group?” John asked, concerned.

“Y-You met them?” 

“Something like that,” he hummed, rubbing his beard. “A blessing indeed…”

“A baby cries if it needs to sleep, eat, it will cry if you don't change its nappies fast enough. What will you do if we have to run, you won’t be able to hide, or quiet it down.” 

“I-I find a solution, in time.” You replied your head low,

“Then raising a child takes resources, time, energy,” he continued. 

“How d’ye plan on doin’ that alone?” Another asked.

“We can manage a pregnant woman, can’t we, Sir?” Gaz stated, your head shot up, looking at their faces. Were you hearing their tone correctly?

“I think so,” their captain said, nodding his head. “But the pregnant lady, be in the house with you lots?” 

“Yes!” You said quickly standing up “Yes, I’ll be so quiet, I’ll behave.” 

“No need for all that, for that love,” he said “You’re under Kyle’s watch until we get home.”

“I found you, it’s only normal you’re under my care,” Kyle said smiling. 

Suddenly you felt arms wrap around your form. You were trapped in an embrace. Obscuring your view.

“Sorry lass” the man hugging you said. “The lads arn huggers and felt like ye and I needed it” 

“Soap get off” 

“It’s okay…” you said, not able to hide your surprise, you hugged him back. You forgot when was the last time you had a real one. 

“Hell wit’ tha bastard, we’ take care of ye” 

“Thank you,”

They brought you along, you learned everyone’s name, that they were ex military, that explained the outfits, and their code names.

Finally you saw the shape of a building on the horizon. Your eyes widen slightly.

“You have a house?” You asked, “on the open?” 

“The perimeter is secured and there are traps; those creatures can't walk through.” 

“You’re not with the rest of the military?”

“We're all that’s left of our squad, there isn't much to protect than ourselves, now you” Kyle said smiling. 

Further back the two other men were watching closely.

Ghost turned to Price, his face was covered but his eyes were screaming, he was opposed to it and for good reasons.

“I know.” John said, sighing.

“It's a bad idea, Sir,” Ghost voiced.

“ I know,” he repeated “but we haven't seen any sign of life for months now, she's the only survivor of her group , that baby saved her life,” 

He looked as Kyle and Johnny gathered around you asking you questions, smiling for the first time in a while.

“It’s a lot of constraint but it’s also hope, after all that happened, with Laswell and the others. They need it” he said, looking at you as laughed at some absurd comment Johnny probably made again. 

“God knows, I do too,” he admitted looking back at the taller man, who remained silent.

“Hey, Ghost you're going to love this!” Kyle beamed, closing the gap between them.

“Yn, show him.” 

You perk up following close behind wanting to do good “yes!” You exclaimed. You unzipped your bag. 

“I got tea, it's not much, the place was already ransacked when I got there,” you said, holding out the little tin can to the tall man.

You walked closer to him, your hand extended, a hopeful look all over your pretty face. He blinked slowly. 

You chewed on your cheek, when he didn’t respond, you swallowed, looking back, at the others. Didn’t they say he liked it?

“You hear that Simon,” Price smirked, glancing at Ghost rocking slightly. “She got you tea,” he said.

Simon hummed, “Already sucking up?” and muttered taking it from you. “smart girl,” he added.

Your lips curled into a smile, and suddenly he felt that maybe it wasn’t a bad idea. 

You turned to the other two who were grinning at your beaming face.

“Come I'll show you where you can sleep!” Kyle said, taking your hand. 

“You can sleep in my bed, it's the most comfortable one,” Soap explained. 

“N-no I can't impose like this, I’ll sleep on the floor.” 

“Don't worry about Johnny, he's house trained,” Simon said, following behind, John chuckled. 

“Mostly,” Kyle added, raising a shoulder. 

“Y’all can fuck off!” 

“Gosh, how long does it take to find white wine-?” You complain under your breath before the handsome stranger from the corner of your eye interrupts you.

“Pleasewillyoubemyfakegirlfriend?” The rather tall man asks frantically as your eyes finally meet. Yours, rather confused, and his, rather desperate.

“Uh- sure?” You laugh nervously as you sip your wine that just arrived.

“Great- M’ Simon, I’m from England, I work in the military, we’ve been together six months, ‘right love?.” He explains rather quickly, eyes darting back and forth between you and the mamas rapidly approaching.

But you get the message.

“You can call me that “love” of yours, I work for the government if you should know and you have to act like you want me for this to work, Simon.” You pull him down by his tie to whisper in his ear.

“If you want them to stay away, touch me.” You kiss his cheek and pull away, performing with a laugh.

It disarms Simon how effortless you make this seem, how quick witted you are - this mysterious yet willing woman at the bar. You’ve truly peaked his interest and he’s so grateful. So yea, absolutely he will touch you, a gorgeous woman in this gorgeous dress.

Simon takes you by the waist, pulling you to his body, whispering back how beautiful you look. It makes you blush, looking back at him rather surprised. He’s equally surprised by his own bold actions, but he plays it off good enough and smiles. Glancing at your pink cheeks with a “good” as you’re both interrupted.

“Simon, darling! There you are!” One woman says.

“I’ve been looking for you! May I present my daughter, Bridgette. She’s a nurse in London as a matter of fact.” Another states proudly.

“I’m terribly sorry, mam”, you interrupt, turning towards Simon and tidying up his tie. Your fingers brushing up against his chest, his throat, it gives him shivers. Any excuse to touch him really was your thought process-

“But I’m afraid he’s already spoken for. As of six months ago tonight, actually. Isn’t that right, darling?.” A proud smile on your face, and Simon just thinks you’re absolutely hypnotizing. Tongue in cheek, yes, but he already wants it to be real, to be yours. He just hopes you’ll say yes to dinner after this, and that you actually didn’t accompany anyone here.

“Yea, this is my girlfriend…” he starts, completely blanking.

My God, he didn’t even know your name, and yet he’s utterly entranced. Talk about a backwards way to start off a relationship.

“Y/N,” you stick out a hand to the mama and her nurse daughter, but they just painfully smile, clearly trying to decline “politely”. With that, they mutter an excuse and walk away, already sniffing for the next eligible bachelor around this evening.

“Well. That’s that then. You’re very welcome, boyfriend dearest.” You tease, bringing your wine glass back up to your lips, admiring his features. He really is a handsome man, it surprises you he doesn’t have anyone special in his life.

“Thank you for your help, Y/N.” He says your name on purpose, he wants to test it out on his tongue. He finds he rather likes it. You do as well.

“Can I get you another drink? On me…” Simon shyly asks, leaning against the bar.

“If it means you’ll stay and have one with me, then yes.” You flirt, waiting for his reaction. Alas, a blush appears on his cheeks. It makes you smile, a big, gorgeous man like this- yet he’s rather timid. It’s sweet really.

“It’s nice to meet you Simon, formally.” You stick out your hand for him to shake. His eyes meet your own and he smiles before taking it. Your hands are so soft, he wants to touch you always if it’s like this.

“Likewise, love.”

You two spent the rest of the night together, by the bar chatting, walking through the gardens getting to know one another, he asked you to dance. Hell, even Price and his new bride thought you two were together by the end of the night.

It took an official date or two, but eventually you were.

Your love for these, in his opinion, overpriced teddies wasn't strange, rather, very interesting.

He'd never heard of them before meeting you and you'd tried your hardest to keep your little collection a secret, until things got much more serious and he was staying at your apartment.

You'd been forgetful and when things were heating up and he had you in his arms, moving through your apartment and opening the door, you'd only realised the mistake when he placed you down on your bed and the stuffed rabbit keeled over and it your right in the face.

The moment of passion was shattered in a moment. Your face grew hot, the heat causing your head to throb as he took hold of the plushie. He'd stood up at that point, holding in his hands and you could hardly see him through your eyelids which had formed a squint as you cringed.

Everything inside you was crying out for you to snatch it out of hands, to send him packing and to never speak to him ever again. 'She's cute,' he said, tugging at the bows in her hair, 'She have a name?'

Sitting up, you toyed with your hands in your lap. 'O- Oh, uh, her names, uhm, muffin,' you say tightly. It seemed to be getting harder to breathe.

Your boyfriend chuckled, for a moment, you thought he was laughing at you for being so childish and when he left the room, you'd thought the worse. Only he reappeared nearly as quickly as he'd left, closing the door to your bedroom behind him.

'Don't want her seein' what we're getting up to.'

You facepalmed, falling back against the bed. 'Kyle.'

'What? I always make sure to turn the figurines in mine around when you're over.'

You looked at him, 'Baby, they're in your office.'

'So?'

His hands were either side of your head as he leaned into you and stole a kiss. 'How long have you had her?'

'A... while.'

'How come this is the first time I'm seein' her?' he asked, 'have you been hidin' her from me?'

You couldn't speak so you settle with nodding, turning your face away from him. He followed you, breath fanning against his face. 'Do you like her?'

'Well... yeah,' you mumble,

'Well I like her too,' he said, kissing you again, 'And you got nothing to be a shamed of, you hear me?'

The thudding in your chest eased as you felt your heart swell. Settling your hands either side of his face, you smiled softly, and whispered, 'Loud and clear.'

Johnny MacTavish - 'Stickers'

When he'd first moved for his job, he was unsure as to how he'd take to the local area. Of course, he'd be fine, had more confidence than a narcissist, but the adjustment period was always a little tricky, so he went on a walk and that was where he met you.

Working in a small cafe in town, it was quaint, cute, and always had someone at the till. He figured he'd go an sit for a warmth; he'd just been the local book shop and picked himself up a new read, but there was no harm in starting it before he got back to base.

So he went in and that's when he saw you. You were like a song bird chirping to the customer, and he watched as the grinned at you and walked away and back to their table to wait for their food.

You beamed like a star in the night sky.

'Hi! Welcome to teapot, what can I get for ya today?' you chimed as he approached the till.

'Just a cup of black coffee, please, lassie.'

You scribbled down his order in the little notepad in the palm of your hand, tongue sticking out the corner of your mouth as you did so. He watched you, grinning to himself when you asked, 'Are you from Scotland?'

'Aye,' he said, nodding his head, 'Born and bred.'

'That's so cool,' you said, 'I've always wanted to go there; I've seen the parks online the look so lovely,' you added, 'oh!' you exclaimed, dropping the notepad in your hand. You went rummaging through the pocket at the front of your apron, plucking out small, shiny tree sticker. 'I got a new packet of nature stickers in the post, here!'

He held his hand out and you placed it in the palm of his delicately. It was single handedly the most precious thing he had ever been given in his life and the sincerest 'thank you' he had ever said.

Needless to say, he still had that sticker on the back of his phone case, even though, after a couple months of dating, he'd find them on the fridge, on random bottles of water, stuck to the bottom of his socks -- everywhere.

And he wouldn't have it any other way.

John Price - 'Miraculous'

You'd seen edits of the show while scrolling Tiktok and thought, man for a kids show, they deal with some seriously deep shit. So, one episode to test the waters turned to two, then two into a season, and before you knew it, it was ruining your life.

You'd watch it on the TV whenever John was away, it was a little slice of comfort, and you often humoured yourself with the idea that you'd found your own cat noir in the form of the military Captain.

Smart, witty, and always saving the day.

What you hadn't accounted for was John coming home early from a mission and walking in to see you sitting on the sofa, hot mug of tea in your hand, with the cartoon on. You were dressed in his hoodie, an ivy green blanket draped over you, and you were immersed.

He'd never seen such concentration in his life as he slowly put his duffle bag down, holding the wall as he kicked his shoes off. He walked into the living room and settled his hand on your shoulder.

You shrieked, grabbing for the remote and falling off the couch with a huff, all whilst the TV show rattled on in the background. Lying on the floor you looked up at him, snatching the blanket and pulling it over your face as you groaned.

'Didn't mean to spook ya, sweetheart,' he said, looking at the TV, 'This a new show we can watch together?'

You pulled the blanket off your head, expecting to see him wearing a shit eating grin, but he wasn't. He was dead serious. 'Been gettin' tired of Game of Thrones, anyway,' he said, moving around to sit on the sofa. 'What's this one about?'

'John it's a kids show.'

He offered you his hand and you took it. Pulling you up, you sat beside him on the sofa, and he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you into him, 'So? You like it, this is what we can watch together. It was your turn to choose the show next anyway, love.'

You blinked, and once more you asked, 'And you're being one-hundred per-cent serious?'

'Course,' he said with a brief nod, pointing at Cat Noir, 'Could've gotten him a better weapon, though; the fucks a stick gonna do?'

You cackled aloud, settling your head against you shoulder and wrapping your arm around his arm. 'It's a magic stick.'

'Still,' he grunted, 'Just wait until the villain discovers an AK, life changing shit.'

Simon Riley - 'Sanrio'

'Okay, so one more time,' Simon said, holding two plushies in his hand, looking backward and forward.

The confusion on his face was palpable, laughable even, and he held out the Kuromi teddy, and said, 'This is my melody, an' the other one's the Kuromi girl thing.'

You, stood in front of him shook your head and facepalmed. 'No,' you said, 'The one with the pink hat is My Melody, and the one with the spiky hat is Kuromi - Si, it's really not that difficult. You literally lead squads for a living.'

'We call 'em numbers; we don't have fella's running round called My Melody or Kuromi.'

'You should.'

He lobs your Kuromi plush at you and it hits you in the face; you're both sitting on your bed in your apartment and you had been teaching, or trying, at least, to teach him the names of all the figures and plushies you'd gotten since having your own disposable income.

Hm. Disposable income was dangerous when that damn cat and her friends was so cute - when you couldn't resist buying just one more plushie, or figure, or key chain.

It'd gotten to the point that your boyfriend sitting across from you had a hello kitty t-shirt on whilst his hair was wet from the shower.

He saw you looking at the t-shirt, and plucked the edge of it, looking down, 'Need to get me one with that penguin fella one it,' he said, 'I fuck with him, he's cool.'

'Hm. If you like him so much, what's his name.'

He let go of his t-shirt and looked at you. 'Cool Penguin with spiky hair.'

'Hm, official?'

'On his birth certificate I heard, luvie.'

You laugh and fall into him, wrapping your arms around his neck. You pressed a kiss against his mouth and said, 'Thank you for not judging me, Si.'

'You like it, I like it,' he said, 'Simple as.'
