His anger implodes on him with John's words, and he tries to mask it with suave mode. Dragging the Captain in for a hug, blanketing his face with kisses, Reassuring that he'd never get unreasonably mad at him, he loves him too much for that.

Now it's easy to sweet-talk him into bed early, convince him that he would like to watch one of the man's favorite shows (he's seen it before, not really his cup of tea). John leaves momentarily to grab a light snack, saving space for him to cook later, and returns to strip and jump back in bed. He tugs Nik onto his fuzzy chest, ignoring his comments of "needing to sweep up the mess downstairs", and waits for those creaky breaths he hears every night. That gives the green light to start planning a short trip to the lake in a couple days, and jot down ingredients for their dinner.

You know John said he didn’t want any cake for his birthday but when you make him little cake balls anyway he eats one after every meal for the next few days. 

I know nobody cares about my OC and that making only canon characters has more following, but to be honest, this was for myself. I need them happy and together.
