Helloo
Can I request headcannons(or a oneshot if youd like) of Soap and Graves fighting over Reader. They are so smitten with reader but they have an issue. Shes so damn oblivious to their advances😭. Like Reader is smart and sassy as hell but she doesnt know when someone is flirting with her so they kinda have to make it obvious or get creative.
Also love your writing ❤️

The day you backhanded Grave for calling you darling during your first meeting, instead of your rank, was the day Soap fell head over heels for you. Watching the way you tore the man to shreds, questioning if he gave any of the other soldiers pet names, then calling him a misogynistic piece of shit when Graves sheepishly shook his head, had Soap almost getting down on one knee right then and there.
It just so happens that the slap hadn't just pulled at the sergeant's heartstrings, but also at Graves. It had been a fair few years since the commander had been reprimanded, let alone by someone technically of a lower rank, the shock honestly made him lightheaded. He's probably lucky that you had stormed off before noticing the way he had chubbed up in his pants because if you were willing to slap him over a pet name he has no doubt you would maim him over something like that. The thought had only made him harder.
Both of them have enough to leave you alone the rest of the day, however after that both of their free time has become fully dedicated to gaining your attention.
Soap finds you the next morning, freshly made coffee in hand, the way he overheard you order it the week prior. You’re hunched over some paperwork at the common room table, eyelids hanging low as you still find yourself waking up. The yawn you let out is cut off as Soap places the hot drink right in front of you. You blink at the steaming mug before your eyes shift up to the smiling man stood on the opposite side of the table.
“Mornin’,” his voice is bright, almost too lively for this time of day.
Your eyes flick between the coffee and him, brows pinching in confusion, “what’s this?”
“Coffee,” he nudges the cup slightly closer, “your normal order.”
“...why?” you stare down into the cup in disgust, moving it from side to side lightly as though you think it’s going to explode with too much movement.
Soap swallows sharply, one hand rubbing at the back of his neck, “just thought ya’ could use one.”
“What did you put in it?”
“Nothing!” He splutters, “ya’ think I poisoned it?”
You shake your head, leaning back in your seat with a sigh, “I’ve seen what you and Gaz do to each other's food, no way am I drinking that.”
“That’s…” he struggles to find an explanation, “-different. I wouldnae do that to ya’.”
With a roll of your eyes you stand, gathering the paperwork, “nice try Soap, but I’m not dumb enough to fall for one of your stupid pranks. Go find your entertainment elsewhere.”
It’s Graves that tries next, jogging after you in the hallway after lunch.
“Leuitenant!” He calls after you, signalling for you to wait a moment. Your arms are crossed before he is even stood in front of you, face set in a stern frown, clearly displeased to see him.
He offers you a sparkling smile, running a hand through his cropped hair, “I wanted to again apologise for yesterday, meant no disrespect, just not everyday I see something as pretty as you in this line of work.”
“Try the mind games with someone else commander.”
Graves gasps in mock offence, “no that’s not very nice, here I am trying to apologise and all I get is an insult in return.”
“I have no interest in talking to a misogynist,” you snap.
He clicks his tongue, placing one hand over his heart, “now that hurts. I’ll have you know I consider myself a feminist.”
You raise one eyebrow, looking him up and down, “is that right?”
“Of course lo- lieutenant,” he catches the slip up, covering it by flashing you another bright grin.
With a hum you reach into the bag you were carrying, rifling through it, “well if that’s the case…”
You slap a book against his chest with a sharp push, his hands instinctively moving to grab it.
“Read up darling.”
You spin on your heels, striding down the hall and out of sight. Graves looks down at the book he now holds. The Feminine Mystique. A soft laugh bubbles from his throat.
Soap tries again two days later, tracking you down in the firing range, fiddling with one of your guns. He leans against the bench beside you, tilting his head to the side to gain a better view of your task.
"What are you workin' on?"
You glance at him for only a millisecond, answering slightly begrudgingly, "making some modifications to my rifle, the trigger has been a bit stiff recently."
"Need some help? I'm quite good with my hands,” Soap wiggles his fingers to accentuate his point.
You pause, mulling over his offer before shrugging and shoving the rifle into his hands, “yeah actually I was getting hungry, you can have a play around while I head to lunch.”
You brush yourself off, heading toward the exit with a brief wave over your shoulder, “thanks Soap.”
The man stares after you, mouth opening and shutting as you slip from view. With a deep sigh he places the rifle on the bench, reaching for one of the tools you had laid out.
When Graves passes you in the hall on your way to the mess, he can’t help but shoot you a wink, "looking great as always lieutenant"
You flip him the bird, "go step on a landmine Graves."
He falls in step alongside you, "only if you ask nicely."
“Please go step on a landmine.”
“You have quite a way with words,” he hums, “need any company for lunch?”
“If I did, I wouldn’t ask you,” you pull the door to the mess shut behind you, giving him no option to follow even if he wanted to.
The joint op you all go on a few days later goes surprisingly smoothly all things considered, but both the 141 and the shadows are exhausted once they reach the base. It’s as you head to the bathrooms that Soap pulls you aside for a moment. Realising that maybe a more direct approach would pay off better than his subtle attempts to gain your favour prior.
"So, did ya’ want to grabs some drinks tonight?"
You frown, looking down at the state of your dirty gear, “after today? I'm having a bath and heading straight to bed."
Not quite the response he was hoping for, but it’s not a complete lost cause yet. Soap nods slowly, "mhm a bath does sound pretty nice. Ya’ know there's somethin’ that always makes a relaxing bath better..."
"Bath salts? I have some if you want to use any,” you glance down the hall, “I’d have to get them from my room-”
"Actually I was referrin’ to a massage."
That seems to gain your interest, you perk up, smiling lightly, "should ask Gaz, he gives a great shoulder massage."
With that you pat him on the arm and continue off down the hall.
Graves is the one that walks in on Soap the next day in the common room, clutching a small bunch of flowers in his hands, staring at them with a pinched brow.
The commander grins, striding over to him, “did someone finally agree to a date with you Soap? I’m assuming they must have had a significant head injury to agree to something like that.”
“Bastard,” Soap scoffs under his breath, “Not that it’s any of your business but I’m on my way to ask ‘em out.”
Graves grins, “I’d say good luck but you and I both know it wouldn’t help.”
Rolling his eyes, Soap pushes away from the bench he’d been leaning against, attempting to step past the man only to have Graves block his path.
“Who’s the lucky lady, or man, whatever floats your boat,” he holds up his hands in placation.
Soap’s jaw ticks, contemplating whether to answer or not, finally offer a stiff response “.... it’s the lieutenant.”
“Ghost? Yikes.”
“No not-” Soap shakes his head in frustration.
It’s at that moment that Graves realises who exactly he refers to, “.... You can’t ask her out.”
Soap glares at the man, taking a step toward him, “and why not?”
“Because her and I are already going out,” Graves plasters on a confident grin, hoping Soap just takes the word at face value. Of course he couldn’t be so lucky.
“Bullshit, she hates you more than I do.”
Graves sneers, “it’s called sexual tension, maybe you’ll experience it for yourself one day.”
That’s when Soap takes a swing.
When you walk in, there's a moment that you think you’ve somehow ended up in the gym without realising. However, it becomes quickly evident that this isn’t a basic sparring match, in fact they both look like they are trying to maim the other.
"What the fuck are you two doing?"
Your voice has them both springing apart in shock, faces bloodied, hair messy and a look of embarrassment on both of their mugs.
Soap is the first to throw blame, pointing at Graves accusingly, “he was goin’ to ask ya’ out.”
Graves snaps back, swatting at Soap’s hand, “well, so were you.”
You stare at them in utter disbelief, mouth hung open as you blink slowly. You shake your head, snapping yourself out of the shock, “you two got into a fist fight over who could ask me out?”
Before of them can respond you are yelling. You are yelling very, very loudly.
"You two are the most self centred, entitled assholes on this entire military base which is saying something considering the rampant sexism I face on a daily basis!"
They both take a small step back, taken off guard by the sheer volume of your outburst.
"Are you cavemen?! You think whoever wins a punch up can just claim me as a prize?! That is the most idiotic idea I have ever- arh!” You point at them with a sharp glare, “I hope both of you get taken out in a missile strike!”
Spinning on your heels you storm out of the room, grumbling something that they almost miss, "god I should have gone out with Price when he asked, at least would have avoided all this shite."
Both of them stare at the empty space you had just stood, unable to find words.
Finally Graves manages to choke out a rough, "....Price?!"
That seems to kick start Soap’s brain, yelling after you despite knowing you’re long gone, "what do you mean the cap asked you out?!"
The room falls silent, the two men shifting on the feet slightly, briefly glancing at each other from the corner of their eyes before turning away.
Soap clears his throat, rubbing the back of his neck, "should probably give her time to cool off, if we went after her right now I reckon she'd shoot us."
Graves eyes widen, not in fear, but excitement. "you really think so?"
".... fuck is wrong with ya'?"
He shrugs, "like you weren't practically drooling a few minutes ago when she was cussing us out."
"...touché."
