i.

      it’s   the   first   time   the   two   of   you   have   kissed.

      as   far   as   kisses   go,   it’s   clumsy,   shy,    cautious   –   and   it’s   perfect,   as   far   as   you’re   concerned.   it’s   little   more   than   the   barest   brush   of   lips,   tender   and   slow,   sending   butterflies   swirling   in   your   belly.   you   pull   away,   a   smile   curling   upon   your   lips,   quiet   laughter   tasting   sweet   on   your   tongue.

      ❝   i   adore   you,   ❞   you   murmur.   ❝   i   adore   you.   ❞

      (   i   love   you.   )

ii.

      ❝   i’m   home,   ❞   you   call   as   you   walk   in   the   door,   a   couple   bags   of   groceries   in   your   free   hand.   when   you   spot   logan,   your   face   lights   up.   you   sit   the   groceries   down   by   the   door   and   walk   over   to   him,   leaning   up   on   tiptoes   ever   so   slightly   to   press   a   kiss   to   his   lips.   the   groceries   can   wait. 

      ❝   did   you   miss   me ?   ❞

      (   home   only   feels   like   home   when   they’re   together,   now.   )

iii.

      you   wrap   your   arms   around   logan’s   neck,   leaning   in   close   with   a   delighted   smile   to   press   kisses   all   over   his   face. 

      ❝   they   love   you,   logan.   i   love   you.   ❞

“Thank you.” It’s soft, like everything that comes out of her mouth seems to be, and her luminescent blue eyes, slide shut. She curls up against Logan’s side as his arm drapes around her - it feels right. 

(It was what the other-her had done with the Father-figure, wasn’t it?)

The gears in her chest turn, winding, and her nearly-real skin rises and falls, false lungs filling and then shuddering free. “I’m glad - we found each other.” It’s halting, but the Ball hums in her pocket, a reassuring sound from its phone form. That was right.

ASK: So, what kind of cool stuff can robots do?

Logan blinked, more than a little surprised. No one, no one had ever asked him that before. “Well. I can’t speak for any robot but myself but I personally can analyze human’s biological functions, heart rate, blood pressure, pupil dilation, any abnormalities that might suggest illness. I can tell when people tell a lie.

On the more mechanical side of things I have the ability to interface, uh, ‘talk’ to any appliance from a computer to a toaster. I am able to hack any smartphone, tablet, laptop. I’m afraid it is all pretty basic, no lasers if that’s what you were expecting.”

           “Oh.” Well, no lasers was a pity. Although Bucky, in his youth, had never given much thought to the more humanitarian aspects robots could have, he had to admit all of that was a better option than the lasers and flying. After all, people had enough destruction power on their hands as it was. “That’s not basic, man. That’s awesome. So what do you do, exactly? I’m guessing you were made to work at a hospital? Do you work or is it slavery? Can you go on a strike, if it’s slavery? Wait, how much willpower do you have? Am I annoying you? Tell me if I’m annoying you, I don’t know robot etiquette.”

While Mat wasn’t immediately aware of the other being anything but human, he definitely recognized the look of someone that didn’t understand what was going on with the people a few yards away. Not that Mat had a good look to see what they were doing in the first place. Lightly, he tapped the android’s arm.

Willow reaches to trace her fingers on the softness of his cheek, in silence. She watches every crevice of his face, studies closely the beauty it resembles. It’s just a quiet, intimate moment that he seemed to enjoy. Then he speaks, reassuring her. Cheeks and nose full of freckles quickly turn red, and she scrunches up her nose in the little smile he managed to bring out.

“Well, aren’t you determined.”

The sun was beaming down on the people below. Ae Chea sweating as she desperately chugged the cold water. Sometimes she regretted joining the military but she could not turn back now. At times it was rewarding, considering there was something under development. ‘Project Doppleganger’ she heard it was called. But all of this was word of the mouth. Some sort of project that created Androids that passed for humans who took care of others. It seemed nice in theory but something in her felt like it could go horribly, horribly long. Ae Chea hadn’t idea how much of this was true she just assumed it was all gossip.
