People who have preferences for a slightly cold room seriously don't have a single shit about the health of disabled people. I have experienced this again and again and again. I get told "just put on a sweater, I can't take all my clothes off". I am not asking for it to be 80. I am asking for it to be 71 so I am NOT IN PHYSICAL PAIN IN MY FACE.
These are gen x and boomers that have no health issues that just have a preference for 65-68. They insist that it's their god given right to spend more money to cause disabled relatives pain if it means they can not be sweaty. They don't believe or don't care that my nose is in pain and my fingers are stiff. Even if they see me go out in 90f and just lay outside because being too warm to the point of looking like I might get heat stress is better than *being in actual fucking pain*.
Am I supposed to wear a ski mask and gloves inside? Is it really realllyyyyy important to people that they not give a couple drops of sweat to not cause disabled people to suffer?
I have been in physical pain from cold for so long before than it caused mental deterioration. Because being so cold you were in constant pain from the cold is bad for you in many ways.
But every fucking time I bring this up even in the most casual way suddenly everyone is the devil's advocate for a disabled person who they don't know who isn't there, that would be harmed by being 71f inside during the summer. People get actually, visibly enraged by the idea that their preference causes harm to me, and will call me selfish for not thinking about this theoretical person who isn't even involved. Just so they can justify harming people like me so they don't have to dress for the weather slightly.
And again, I'm not talking about over 75+. I am just asking not to be forced to exist in under 71f.
