I'm allowed to like journaling even if my hand tremors make it so I can't do something as "pretty" as an abled bodied person

I'm allowed to like crocheting even if it's bad for my joints and it takes me double the time it would take someone else to finish a project

and yes I'm trying to switch to knitting which is lighter on the hands, but even that - even fucking using my phone - makes my finger hurts

I'm allowed to complain about it, just like you - specially if you're abled - are not allowed to tell me off about it

i suffer with terrible fatigue as part of my condition and i find it hard to partake in hobbies i enjoy, nevermind hardwork, when it hits. which is a lot of the time. i sometimes sleep 10+ hours a night and still have to take a nap.

before i started seeing doctors abt my condition, people would always ask how i am when i was at work and when id answer id always get 'youre always tired!'

the worst one was the guy who turned round to me and went 'you dont have kids, you dont know what tired is.'

girl, if most able-bodied people were operating at the levels i operate at most days, they wouldnt have the energy to get out of bed or feed themselves. some days i cant do that and i live like this every day. some days i become so exhausted i cannot form words.

idk man chronic fatigue is not just 'being tired all the time'. its debilitating. imagine not eating because you dont have the energy to lift cutlery or chew. imagine being so drained that you physically cannot talk. imagine having to wait until someone else is home to go to the bathroom because you dont have the energy to get there alone.

Just had a meltdown because I'm at my parents since college is on break and the spoon I use all the time has been gone for a few weeks and now the other spoon I started using is missing. I just wanted ice cream and instead I hit myself in the head and cried silently in my room.

If your autism gives you joy, that's cool, but let's not pretend everyone experiences autistic joy and in anyway likes their autism. My life is 20x harder because of this shit. I can't drive, can't work, can't make friends, can't date, barely shower, barely brush my teeth, and apparently I cant just use a different fucking spoon without crying!!!!!!

But yeah sometimes I flap my hands when I'm excited how cute uwu neurospicy baby 🥺🥺.

I'm a grown fucking man who has a neurodevelopmental disability. You think I like flapping my hands? You think it doesn't make me feel like I'm 5 fucking years old every single time?

Disabilities are disabilities and they fucking suck. If you can find joy in a deeply disabling disorder I am very happy for you, but please remember some of us have higher support needs and our lives are greatly affected by it. I shouldn't have to see people basically mocking this very lonely disorder just because they don't like the texture of velvet or making eye contact.

Body: all our bones are frozen. Your muscles have withered. Your hands are numb. You have heartburn, and you're sweating.

But, for me, the most debilitating part of both those conditions is the short-term memory problems.

Can we talk about how scary having memory issues is? Because holy crap.

It doesn't feel like "forgetting." It feels like reality is warping around you, and you're helpless to stop it

I can't even express the feeling where you KNOW you were holding an object, like your wallet, in your HAND, five seconds ago, and suddenly it disappears. And you have no memory of putting it down. No memory of anything changing.

Not to mention society puts so much stigma on "forgetful" people, because, culturally, we assume forgetting means you don't care.

People can't comprehend that, just because you forgot something, doesn't mean you don't think it's important.

I live in fear I'll forget to turn off the gas stove. One does not simply "not care" about that.
