Château de Reignac is located in the parish of Saint-Loubès, France, between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, a setting that contributes to the estate’s distinctive soil composition. Built in the 16th century by Seigneur Baude de Payron, Count of Reignac, the château sits on 333 acres, with 198 acres dedicated to grapevines, and was expanded and transformed during the 18th and 19th centuries. The estate features a greenhouse designed by Gustave Eiffel, as well as a renowned scent garden and wine-tasting experiences. In 1990, Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot purchased the property and invested in elevating the quality of its wines, leading to recognition in 1996 when a famed critic ranked Château de Reignac’s Bordeaux among the top 50 wines. In 1998, the 16th-century dovecote was restored and converted into a three-level wine-tasting space. Today, the winery is open to the public by appointment, has received five international wine tourism awards, serves as a vacation rental with eleven guest rooms, and is home to the Aymard de Chouppes restaurant overlooking the gardens.
