I've had this quiet theory in the back of my head, mostly born out of PT!AU crossover shenanigans, that Imu was somehow involved in the creation of Devil Fruits. I originally stuck with them being indirectly part of it, because I assumed Oda would never explain where Fruits came from

BUT HERE WE FUCKING ARE!!!!! IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW!!!!!!!! Their abilities, and by extension the abilities of the Knights, have always been compared to other Devil Fruits!

Off the top of my head, the regeneration matching the Phoenix Fruit and what Imu did to the houses matching Big Mom's Fruit. Hell, there's even all the stuff with the Immortal Youth Surgery Theory and the various Fruits that somehow stop you from directly dying! And the Knights apparently metal hearts & magnet traits!!!!

I thought it was just Oda reusing ideas BUT NO!!!!! IT'S ALL SIMILAR BECAUSE THE FRUITS ARE FROM IMU!!!!!! THE LITERAL SNAKE IN EDEN TELLING PEOPLE TO TAKE A BITE OF THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT AND BE CAST OUT OF THE GARDEN/OCEAN!!!!!!!!!!! THAT MOTHER FUCKER
