Panera Bread Company The macaroni and cheese at Panera has always been a customer favorite, and now the fast casual chain is taking things up a notch … with none other than bacon mac and cheese. In this new dish, Panera’s creamy mac and cheese, which is made with Vermont cheddar cheese, is topped with crunchy, thick-cut bacon. Like all of Panera’s offerings, the dish is free of artificial colorings and flavors. The company only uses bacon that is cured without artificial additives. In other words, this is real bacon — not the imitation stuff! “There are few foods as beloved as bacon,” said Panera head chef Dan Kish in a press release. “My food philosophy is that if you’re going to truly enjoy an indulgence, like salty, smoky bacon, it should be the best you can get.” No argument here! But there is just one catch: You can only try the new bacon mac and cheese if you order Panera to your home or office. That’s right: It is only available via the company’s delivery service, which the company first started back in 2016.
