So I should have clarified my position regarding firearms. Following college, I spent several years in the Army Reserves as military police. I worked closely with law enforcement for seven years thanks to my time in child welfare in a major US city. My family is from the country, with a history of firearms only countryfolk can understand.

I am honestly suggesting that the greatest home defense is locks on your doors, and creating an economy and mental health infrastructure that doesn’t disadvantage people to the point that home invasions are a crime common enough to make anyone feel unsafe in their own homes.
