my doc has been ducking around upping my t dosage despite making observations that i should be further along and saying countless times that she should up the dosage (literally i have no idea what’s stopping her). now they’re cancelling every appointment i try to make, so i can’t get bloodwork done and go, “i’m still getting my period, this dosage isn’t cutting it, help?” so i did something no trans person should ever do, but in my defense this doctor has really let me down, and also i had pms and panicked at the idea of having another period: i upped my dosage, from 0.25 to 0.50. based on research i’ve done, 0.20 is a good starter dosage for a trans man, a little test to see how his body takes to it, or an afab nb person who doesn’t want the full effects of testosterone. i’ve been on 0.25 t for over a year. usually when docs decide to up the dosage from 0.20 they take it to 0.50, a typical weekly t dosage. i upped it and a really funny thing happened, my period didn’t come. hm. my energy’s back, my libido’s back.
like, should i become a doctor? do i even need medical school? should i just, like, take the board certification exam? (i’m kidding)
i should also stress that you should not do this, especially if your doctor is being reliable, consistent, and open.
