you reblogged that Jeeves and Wooster quote, and now I 1) am watching Jeeves and Wooster :D and 2) semi-inexplicably have stuck in my head: "JEEVES AND WOOSTER, JEEVE ME A WOOST" to the tune of Mr Sandman and I can't stop laughing
now i also have this tune and my tears FALL LIKE RAIN

So what is this movie, and do I have to watch it?? Because it sounds like an *absolute* must watch
The movie is called ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ and yes they do mean that in a ghosty way. A handsome yet cursed ghosty way.
Look it’s silly and has several continuity errors and plotholes and the ending is RIDICULOUS in the best and most inexplicable way and I definitely recommend it.

That’s actually kind of less convoluted than a fic au? If you think about it? If you’re the author (or a participant which is kind of like a co-author in a way), it’s just… canon. “In my story there exist multiple parallel universes one of which is comforting thank you the end”
there . . . may be occasions where this is true. however, “half my party, several characters from completely different campaigns, and an npc child got swept off to Candyland which turned out to secretly be TAZ Wonderland and then we had to fight a Trauma Dragon” is definitely more complicated than a fic au and much too tonally off-the-wall to be canon
So. It’s happened. We both knew this was coming eventually.
Year Of The Tiger - St. Vincent.
Open. Shoes, clinking on the pavement. Boots, with spurs. It pans up, dumb galaxy jeans and a generic t-shirt. It’s me, and I’m entering the Google campus. I stride up the stairs, brushing past the security guard with a show of my gun. I go up, and up, and up the stairs, open up a room-
It’s a long conference room, with a swivel chair at the end, facing the wall. It spins around.
“It’s been a long time.” You say, petting a cat in your super-villian-esque butt-receptacle.
“It has. I can see you’re doing well.” I take a second pistol from my other holster, and slide it across the long table. It comes to a stop right in front of you, and ever so slowly, you pick it up.
“Should we count to ten?” You ask, more a joke than a question. You know the answer.
“I think we’re both past that level of civility, Emily.”
The ensuing firefight bankrupts google, Palo Alto, and the government of the united states.

SHREK IS LIFE
I was so tempted to find some terrifying image from a Shrek shitpost but instead I will just let you imagine that I did because there are so many and how could I ever choose?

I think ur more like a parfait. Everybody loves parfaits! (But wait seriously how did you use this to come out?? I'm really curious???)
HAHA WELL FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THE PARFAITS :P I will post the conversation below haaaaaa
Additional context: I had filled out legal forms to change my name before I moved, but then I moved and my address changed, so I have to fill them out again :( which requires that I print them, lol. Before the following conversation happened, nobody at work was aware that I was trans (except maybe the HR person that I told my legal name to: when I became an employee, she needed it for tax stuff but I requested she use my chosen name on anything where that was remotely possible, which she seems to have done -- I looked at my employee file and my legal name is not listed anywhere. YAY JESSI FROM HR). So then all this happened and if you would like to imagine me internally screaming the entire time, that is appropriate.
Me: Do you have access to the printer on this floor? My computer is only able to find 601, which doesn't actually seem to exist upon poking around yesterday
Coworker: I think so??
Want to send me what you need printed and I can print it for you?
Me: Maaaybe though I can go talk to IT if that is too much trouble
Coworker: It isn't any trouble - your call!
I don't know who assigns printer access - I assume Corp IT??
Me: Yeah, probably, haha
[after a few minutes of FREAKING OUT like a dork]
http://www.mncourts.gov/CMSPages/PortalTemplate.aspx?aliaspath=/GetForms&item=124&itemType=packetDetails does this URL work? If so, these are the forms I need to print out (whenever is convenient)!
Coworker: I printed them - they should all be in the copy room/kitchen!!
Me: oh! Thank yoU!
you*
that you got excited
Coworker: Excited might be a strong term?
Me: oh, haha, sorry, ambiguity happens when you don't use punctuation — I meant the "you" that I typed got excited and decided to make the last letter upper-case. Unless you knew that already and I'm just being weird and over-explaining
Which is also probably
PROBABLE*
typos
I can't function today
Coworker: Hahahahahahaha
You may want to go grab those off the printer to make sure you have what you need
Me: I grabbed 'em already because I'm sneaky and quick like that
Coworker: Hahahahaha - Super Sneaky!!
Me: Thank you so much!
Coworker: Anytime!
Me: Relatedly
Do you know if there is a notary public in the office? I can ask someone else, not sure why you would know that, but on the off chance that you do, haha
Coworker: I don't know - but check with , as she is probably your best bet....
Me: Okay! Thanks again! I should have filed this before my address changed — I had them filled out and notarized and then just didn't actually send them in with the filing fee, and now I have to do it over again because that's what you get when you're lazy and terrible
Coworker: I thought we just decided that you were sneaky and quick, and now you tell me that you're lazy and terrible??
Me: I am very multifaceted!
Coworker: You are like an onion....so many layers......
Me: Or a cake! Or a parfait!
No, onion
Coworker: Definitely onion
Me: not to be ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, but
Speaking of ONIONS
and LAYERS
Coworker: Ridiculous is my favorite
Me: that's good because I AM BEING VERY RIDICULOUS
I would like to share a thing that is not an essential thing for you to know (so I feel dumb making a big deal out of it)!
And maybe you already knew or suspected, or other people knew/suspected — I honestly have no idea because I have never been in the position I am currently in!
But basically, I am transgender!
*…confetti*
Coworker: Oh my!!!
I didn't know that!!!
Me: hahahaha
Coworker: So - where are you at in the process??
Is that OK for me to ask?
Me: totally okay
well, as you might suspect, I am currently legally changing my name, haha
Coworker: What are you changing it to?
Me: Liam!
Female to male transgender!
No one else in the company (except Jessi from HR) knows that Liam is not my legal name
I think
Coworker: Oh duh
Me: And yesterday when I went to the bank they were exceedingly awkward because my check said Liam but my bank account says something else
So I was like
I SHOULD DO THIS NOW
haha
Coworker: I should have thought about that a little bit more huh?
Me: haha well, I didn't make it clear
Coworker: Have you just been dying to tell someone - or dreading it?
Me: Well, I started transitioning at the end of my senior year at Carleton, and then I worked there for the next year, so I never really had to worry about whether I should tell people because everyone already knew
So it was just a very new and different and weird position
To be in
Where I actually had the choice to disclose
And I couldn't decide whether I wanted to or not
And sometimes I kind of did but other times I was worried because it's not something I can really take back
And probably most people would be fine about it but you just never know!
Coworker: Uhm - no, no take-backs on that deal....
I think people here will be VERY supportive
I hope that has been your experience thus far?
How were your parents?
Me: Yes, I have been EXTREMELY lucky
My parents are great about it — I don't think they were particularly surprised
So are my sisters (I have 3 of them)
One of them gave me the "World's Best Brother" mug I'm using at my desk right now haha
Coworker: That is AWESOME!!!
Me: And people at Carleton were really great too which wasn't particularly surprising (liberal arts colleges for the win)
Coworker: I won't say anything to anyone else, unless you want me to?
Me: Well, if someone asks you to confirm or deny it, you can tell them the truth definitely
And yeah, that's the other thing — I have no idea whether any one else would have any reason to suspect unless I told them. I just have no idea
So yeah that's another part of the reason I look 12
Coworker: Makes total sense
Me: Aaand I have been very unproductive in the last hour agonizing over whether to say anything haha. Sorry for being such a neurotic weirdo, and thanks for listening. My friend wanted me to tell you that you're great and she loves you
Coworker: Hahahaha - I am SO GLAD that you felt comfortable enough to tell me....that makes me feel good!
It sounds like you have a wonderful family and support system - but if you ever need to talk, I am totally here for you, OK?
And if anyone around here is rude or disrespectful to you - you let me know and I will kick some ass!!!!!
Me: You're the best Work Mom ever
I'm gonna get you a mug that says "world's best work mom" haha
thank you
Coworker: Hahahahaha
Too sweet!!!
Consider yourself hugged
Me: *hug!*

I went with a ‘firsts’ theme. Thanks to dog-of-ulthar for tagging me!
S- Self Esteem, Andrew Jackson Jihad (Played at the first concert I went to on my own, and the second song on the first album I bought with my own money. I empathize too much)
(Favorite lyric:)
And I'm a liar and I am a thief / Taking things from those better than me / Pathetic little man with some pathetic little dream / I hope you all can forgive me
O- Ocean of Noise, Arcade Fire (My favorite Arcade Fire song and my first introduction to indie)
In an ocean of noise / I first heard your voice / Now who here among us / Still believes in choice? / Not I
R- Rivers of Babylon (acoustic), Sublime (Sublime was one of the first band my family showed me as a kid. This song is also the first song I tried to learn on guitar!)
So let the words of our mouth / And the meditations of our hearts / Be acceptable in thy sight / Override
E- Eucalyptus, The Deadly Syndrome (One of the first songs to really get me into practicing singing. Also on that album, the first song that I performed in public!)
A row of stumps surrounding us / It's bright and cold and lonesome / We must have cut them down in our sleep / In our sleep we must have cut down all the trees / Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no
N- No Danger, The Delgados (Everyone’s got that one album that smacked them in the face and told them what music could do, and The Great Eastern is that for me. No Danger is a weirdly fun song on that album. Also one of the songs that inspired me to first try to write lyrics!)
By the stories that were told / I decided to reject the bold / embrace the cowardly and the weak / we had laughs that lasted weeks / they're inside and I sing here
I challenge carelessplum, mohala-sumiko, and thatoboekid!
