Making up a knitting pattern because I want cute pink socks.
Alright, so, the Impossible Geometry Socks have made it through testing, editing and are now, I'm thrilled to say, are available in my Web Shop! A huge thanks to the folks at Malabrigo Yarns for helping these come to life - they're part of the Malabrigo Quickies collection!
These socks were originally inspired by an Art Nouveau themed magazine call back in Summer 2021. After playing with various stitch swatches, what I got instead was a stitch pattern that reminded me more of the Impossible Geometry that is so prevalent in the works of M.C. Escher.
The Blocks Stitch Pattern is made with a combination of slipped stitches and one-over-four cables, this means that the leg and the top of the sock have far less stretch then the stocking stitch sole of the sock.
The Impossible Geometry Socks pattern also has both written and charted instructions for the Blocks Stitch pattern, and also has a large print version that's compatible with screen-reading technology. (Oh, and Patrons, you should be able to download the pattern on Patreon!)

Welcome to November, and the colder weather is here! We're seeing nights drop below 0 C here in Southern Ontario, which means it's definitely time for gloves! Which is why I'm happy to say that this month's Featured Pattern and Knit Along is the Pine Cone Gloves!

The stitch pattern has both full charts and written instruction
The pattern has a large-print version for folks who need it (this version also works with screen-reading tech)
It's non-gendered, because a measurement of a 'Woman's Small' means absolutely nothing. Sizing is determined by wrist circumference, and has adjustable finger and thumb lengths.
It comes in four sizes, based on wrist circumference, 6 (7.5, 9, 10.5) inches, (15, 19, 23 26.5 cm) with approximately 0.5 to 1 inch (1.25 to 2.5 cm) negative ease**
Finger and thumb lengths are easily adjustable.
When you're picking yarn for this, any wool/nylon sock yarn would work up quite well. You could also use any high-twist durable yarn - a high twist wool/silk blend could also work up well in these!

** Negative Ease - where your actual body measurements are less then the measurements of the garment. Socks usually want about 10% negative ease, so that they stretch a little and it helps them stay up. For these socks, you would want to pick a size that is 0.5 to 1 inch smaller then your actual measurements.
