Friends, mutuals, countryfolk:
After declining health due to chronic, I left my job at the end of February and have begun the disability application process.
While I have already been denied and am moving forward to reapply/appeal, thankfully Medicaid and SNAP are helping cover my doctor appointments/medical treatments, prescriptions, and some groceries (got my EBT card in the mail today!).
My mother (I know, I know), has put me on her phone plan for now so I do at least have the ability to call/text/have some data for internet on that at least.
However, I’m extremely low on money aside from the little bit I am saving for gas in my car.
My internet is being shut off today as my bill for last month is overdue and I could not afford to pay it - unfortunately internet is pretty necessary expense for me as I need it to fill out medical and disability forms, and have access to my health records.
Though I’ve began calling around local places that offer rent assistance, I unfortunately have not qualified for any so far (and many are low on how much available funding they have to give out due to the government cuts both nationally and statewide where I live).
I’m aiming for $500 at minimum to cover at least the internet, gas in my car, and at least part of a medical bill as those are the most imperative things, but I’ve included a small breakdown below of the most immediate expenses:
Internet: $320 (covers outstanding bill + internet for this month)
Gas: $100 (gets me through the next month; there is a charity in town that offers gas cards but I need to be able to drive over in person to pick them up with an appointment ahead of time)
Therapy bills: $600 (outstanding bills needed to pay, no more copays will accrue due to my insurance but they need me to take care of this ASAP for long term continuation of care)
Non-food stuff: $500 (things like a pulse oximeter, elevating pillows, Zyrtec, disposable plates and cutlery, sleep breathing strips, and other OTC meds and essential non-toiletries things I cannot afford otherwise or aren’t covered by insurance or given by charities, that make my symptoms more bearable)
If you are able to help donate anything at all, I would be so grateful. If money is tough for you like it is for me, even a reblog or signal boost to others who might be able to assist would help so much.
I really do hope that one day I’ll be able to work again - whether a regular job or self employed somehow - but it is imperative that medical care is centered first for the foreseeable future so that I can do even the most mundane little things like taking a good walk outside or being able to be out and about for longer periods of time without getting so easily fatigued.
Thank you and may your road be kind
