David Alonso about MotoGP signing rumors: "I'm open to listen"
By Álvaro González, may 20th for Motociclismo magazine
It began with a bit and questions about his beginning of the season and idk what one can expect, but he is sure as help not telling anyone anything new about. Like what's there to say when a bike almost hit your head 😭? And you still get on the bike 😭
What do you think you need right now to, let's say, reach your top confidence level in the world championship?
The details, a little. In those key moments were a detail has escaped me, some little lost of focus, of technical detail in the box, whatever. Then it is that, of polishing and to try that in key moments not do complicate things, do it simple and doing it well.
*looks at my alain prost profile picture* I have a type dont i
also, loss of focus *remembers the fucked start bc of the bike being in neutral* yeah small mistakes 😃😃
Also this man is killing me with his sintaxis, he is killing me
Do you believe you need a slight change in maturity or you are already covered in that sense?
Always keep on maturing, but is a little just being present when the oportunity appears and that's it. Sometimes when you most want it you end up chasing it away instead of drawing it in. Then is letting it come on it's own.
idk if to wtf or laugh but honestly what a way to remember he is in fact, barely 20yo. But never would i describe maturity as something that moves like the tides or something that comes, maybe is david poetic tendencies coming through
A view to the past, do you believe that you have improved from the David that was Moto3 world champion?
You learn, life teaches you, you learn you have to value a lot what you do, that you have to enjoy it and that it's not like the day to day routine. That is not like it isnt an uncommon thing, but when good things happen is because you arw doing things well not only inside the track, but out of it too. Everything is connected at the end. And nothing from there to now, we'll maybe I've matured, seeing others facets of the world championship I hadn't seen throughout the years, that gives you experience.
First , ouch, second, i hope so, third if I undertood him correctly is that you have to enjoy what your do, that the good thing that hapenn are because of his hard work and that he may be more mature than when he was in moto3, thats cute, but also i feel he is having a moment fighting between answering the question and not giving too much away and its coming out with...interesting results (his poet tendencies are coming out to answer nothing burgers)
Is there a moment with him (Jorge Aspar) that has stayed with you?
Ah, a lot but at the end... It's like he is always there, truth is there is a lot of moments, but well, when I made him come to Japan, which he absolutely hates. He doesn't like it at all, and he never comes to Japan, he's never been in 15 years. I mean, he had never been to the race in Japan and I made him come because I was fighting the title there, so I made him come to Japan. And I won there. Thank goodness, because then... He doesn't like to go there.
(This was after a question about Jorge aspar and how much he respects him and has learned from him) WDYM YOU MADE HIM COME bc he doesn't like Japan and came for him 😭, not him being glad of his win bc then jorge would have come for nothing (someday ill get what is aspar's beef with japan, but looking at his beef with children, it could be stupidly petty) hes also talking like if jorge would have killed him or sm, boy that man loves he isnt doing anything to you.
Besides all the rumors about you going to MotoGP, I imagine that you arw also happy hearing that Aspar may come to MotoGP.
Yeah, its true, that is said. Well, see. I just, whatever they do that they do it well and that's it, but well, at the end those aren't topics concerning me, so we'll see.
boy trying to separate himself for the business of the team that raised him, as he should bc wth is he going to know about any of that?
Regarding a possible move to MotoGP, what do you look for when choosing a manufacturer?
Well, there are many things to consider. Many values, I mean not just sporting wise or performance, also the bike, the team, the people around them, the potential fututd, the projected growth... how many years you want to be there, you have to consider many things. In the end, you have to weigh in many things.
And how would you convince David Alonso to join your MotoGP team?
Well, I'm open to listening.
'have to value many things' 'im open to listening' he is like this at the beginning of the year idk what would be of him if he was on social media more, never get that man on Twitter please.
Do you think 2027 could be the perfect season to be a rookie in MotoGP?
Well, it could be, but ultimately I think any year is a good year because if someone's offered the chance to move up to MotoGP, any year is a good year to move up. You're not going to say no. In the end, the timing is always right.
And do you think it's an advantage to know the Pirelli tires?
Yes, but well, in the end it's different, it's another category, and we'll see. I don't know, but well, since it's not one of my priorities right now, that's that.
the tyres might help him but he does have a record of simply not doing well on his first year, he likes to meet the gravel first, yk?
Something that perhaps isn't asked as often, do you think there's sometimes too much pressure to move up a category?
Yes, sometimes there is. Sometimes the mistake is moving up too quickly, not settling into the category, like before you could stay there for many years and now it seems like you can't. Sometimes that's one of the problems, it needs to be controlled.
Do you talk about that with Jorge?
Yes, for example, Jorge has always told us that there's no rush and that in the end it happens, there's no hurry to move up. Moving up faster doesn't mean you're overtaking others, so he's always told us that.
For me this is interesting bc I agree that there seems and issue with riders not having the opportunity to get careers out of the lighter championships (and probably a reflection of the shift in value on those categories, and maybe the wanting to frame them as feeders). For other part, idk what aspar is doing bc it seem he is getting pressured to get into motogp, the team has said they are looking for two riders for moto2 but jorge tells his riders to be patient and take their time and idk, I would have snapped
