In your defense, and as someone who flakes occasionally and has friends that flake often: it is very rare that someone flakes for no reason. As someone who learned this lesson the very very hard way, everyone should make a habit of checking in on their flaky & avoidant friends

yeah i never blame any of my friends if they flake!! people should learn that life hits everyone differently and should extend grace and compassion when people don't show up sometimes. times are tough so we gotta be kind to each other for real. also i think people have to learn to do things on their own and have fun by themselves. friend texts saying they cant show up when you're already at the restaurant? treat yourself and eat something alone. find out your sibling isn't coming shopping with you? shop by yourself and explore new places. learn good skills for yourself in the meantime and you can always politely ask for an explanation later if you felt hurt that you were left alone.

#i find that most people WANT to share why they didn't show up in the first place #and if they don't want to then just let it go or stop being friends with them if it bothers you so much #live and let go

one, most of the places i was invited to were formal work/school/local events that usually did not involve my friends. two, i didn't have a car at the time and did not have any money to get rides anywhere. three, my mental and physical health was deteriorating rapidly at that time and i was in and out of the hospital/doctor's office constantly throughout that year and even the year before.

i don't flake on people for no reason lol what a weird thing to say to somebody without knowing anything about them

#now mentally im doing a lot better and now i have a car and a job and can go anywhere i want within reason so ofc i'm going out more #plus i kinda hated everyone who kept inviting me out to those events ngl
