Theodore Racing team owner Teddy Yip with a young Ayrton Senna at the 1983 Macau Grand Prix. This was the first year that the event was run under Formula 3 regulations, and Ayrton was the winner.

And actually I wanted to talk about the concussion protocol in WSBK paddock.

Some years ago, Dominique Aegerter was fighting for the championship and he crashed in lap 1 in a pile crash of Race 1. He's bike was damaged and he new he needed a red flag to save that race. So what did he do? At first like any rider, acted slowly to try to delay the marshals action (WSBK usually throws red flags when they are hald circuit done and they see they need more time), but then it didn't work.

So what did he do next? He pretend to be concussed, so the medical team would enter the track and red flagged it. It didn't happen, but he was send for a check up. He was declared concussed, so no Race 2 for him. Of course he was faking, so he an the team protested it, and went to show he was okay. So race direction was furious and prohibited him from doing race 2.

Do do they take ver seriously the concussions? Yes and safety in general. Like 70-90% of the trip to the hospital usually end up with a rider being declared unfit.

WSBK is much better in that aspect.

WAOW YOOO that's fascinating. No, I've never heard of this before! I see that it was in WSSP 2022, in the video he straight up looks around before lying down, very obviously not concussed lmaooooo. Fake-ass fall, absolutely crazy.

kinda reminds me of that one Aron Canet (? was it him? maybe not?) incident, where he stayed down to try and get a red flag as well

MotoGP needs to take a page out of WSBK's book, when it comes to this. it's insane that they just let known❗ concussed❗ riders❗ go out there and potentially crash, exacerbating their own injury or worse, endanger their and other people's lives. obv I understand that the sport has an inherent baseline level of danger, it's motorcycle racing after all. but this particular bit is completely optional.

if you have a concussion, you've got no business being out on the track. full stop.

I wish they would fucking lock in, and implement the guidelines properly, to prevent stuff like Martin's and Morbidelli's issues, but unfortunately health and wellbeing seems to be an afterthought in this sport. shame on dorna, shame on liberty media, shame on anyone involved in getting unfit riders on the bike. It's unacceptable.
