I think the thing about reading fanfiction is that: it adds up. Your knowledge on the character increased every read (knowing that it’s fanfiction - I’d say it’s closer to your headcanon version of the favorite character that is an accumulation of all your favorite pieces of writing about them); and so when some pieces have similar ideas written in a different manner and in a different world it just Hits a Lot more.
Because for me - it felt like the character had that same amount of depths explored in this fic like the previous fic; and it just adds onto the pile. Explored in different contexts, in different narrations. But the idea/certain headcanons stayed with me and is carried onto a different writing that has nothing to do with one another. I’m not sure if that makes sense - but think of the perpetual stew in some form of semblance.
And I think it’s one of the most charming thing about fanfiction. We’re all creating one character and at the same time our own version of said character; then those around you would take small pieces of Your version and make Their own.
Though, it makes me a lot sadder when I catch a destructive pattern across different fics as well. That even in a different hypothetical world some things are just As is and it’s sad. But it’s also why I love it.
