It only gets better as they grow more comfortable with this dynamic.

“Bring Mommy some antibiotic ointment for her rope burns.”

That had to be one of the funniest customer interactions I've experienced in a while. We're permitted to have our phones on us at work (as long as it's not a distraction). My notification sound is a Brainbot. The customer went to reach for the pin pad and my phone "barked". I thought the poor woman was going to soil herself. Sorry, that was just my phone.
