Like Mobius, 8 prefers sport coats over suits, or even just a dress shirt paired with a waistcoat if he can get away with it. There are days where 8 is more subdued in appearance, almost drab.

On others, 8 may be as colorful as a parrot, with his love of bright colors and/or garnish patterns borderline obnoxious. 8 however likes the attention it brings until, inevitably, Klein starts complaining that it’s burning his retinas. Variety is what 8 enjoys most!

8 also has some crazy suits and shoes in his wardrobe for his jazz performances with the company’s band.

When he does have to tone it down for company events, 8 usually goes with tan/camel colored suits with some slip-on dress shoes.

For accessories, 8 loves his kitschy, novelty cuff links, tie clips, and watches. Some of them have music themes, like instruments and music notes, while others just tickle his funny bone.

8 is also big into bow ties, which can be found in his dresser in a variety of colors and patterns. The louder, the better! :) On occasion, he wears neckties, and when he’s feeling particularly spicy, Peekaboo ties (Shhh, it’s his little secret 🤫).

Because 8 is partially deaf in my headcanon, he also wears behind-the-ear hearing aids, which were invented for the first time in the 50s thanks to transistors (Fun fact: hearing aids were the first commercially available product to use transistors, before transistor radios!). The history of hearing aids is pretty fascinating but in the 50s, you had a number of types of hearing aids: over the ear, in the ear, discreetly in the pocket of a waistcoat, and even ones that were disguised as tie clips and eyeglasses. 8 prefers hearing aids that are behind the ear as the most comfortable for him personally, but I can also see him using the glasses versions too!

8 loves his suspenders. Technically, suspenders fell out of fashion in the 50s as belts became more popular, but 8 doesn’t care because he likes how they look and they’re comfortable! Plus he likes some of the more whimsical designs. Casual wear is usually button downs or shirts with some fun patterns and a pair of loafers.

Winter is a suburban coat, usually brown or green, and a Tremont hat, never matching in color. Besides Klein, 8 is one of the few members of the Think Tank that really likes wearing hats outdoors, to protect his balding head from the elements. Gotta keep that big ol’ noggin toasty!

For summer, it’s shorts, sunglasses, and Hawaiian shirts, and if it’s sunny out, a straw pork pie hat. Actually, 8 is such a fan of Hawaiian shirts that he likes wearing them all year long, even in the middle of winter.

For sleeping, 8 likes knit pajamas with some loafers or slippers. He loves giving gag gifts, so every member of the Think Tank was given matching flannel pajamas one Christmas, holiday group picture included. :)

8's cologne of choice is Carven’s Vetiver, described as a warm, fresh smell, grassy, and a little nutty.

What’s in his pockets?: Spare batteries, 8 cents, and a rolled up naughty magazine.

Color Palette: Greens and yellows are found most often in 8's wardrobe, especially bright shades like dandelion yellow and chartreuse.

Was born partially deaf. As a child, 8 was fascinated by the technology that gave him the ability to hear and would take apart his hearing aid to see how it worked, much to his parents’ dismay. His personal experience also made him interested in the science of sound and music. 8 was especially curious about sound frequency, being something he could tangibly feel even without his hearing aid.

Was a band geek in high school and is musically gifted, being able to play any instrument that he finds interesting. His favorite instruments in band were the tuba and trombone, but his current favorite is the theremin. He loves the challenge of playing the theremin (since it has a steep learning curve), that he can tinker with the electric components, and that he gets to play around with frequencies.

Dr. 8 is just a friendly, personable guy and is the most social one out of the Think Tank. Enjoys going to company events and having guests over at his house at Higgs to hang out with. I base this interpretation on a few things: he calls the Courier a friend at the end of the DLC, he has a Meeting People magazine in his inventory (my interpretation is that 8 didn’t want his social skills getting rusty during his years as a tank), and he genuinely seems to be happy to have the Courier around if you befriend him.

Prankster. Klein accuses 8 of messing with his volume knob at the start of OWB, which leads me to believe that he’s done that before. Which, in turn, makes me think that 8 likes pulling annoying pranks on his friends whenever things get too boring around the Dome.

8 is an audio engineer but he’s also a computer whiz and is very handy when it comes to physics.

Fluent in American Sign Language. He usually only uses it with employees he’s hired from the Deaf community but Mobius and 0 have picked up on some words and have a very basic understanding of it. Of course, the first things they wanted to learn were curse words and whenever Klein is being an ass, 0 will demonstrate what he’s learned from 8, which amuses him immensely.

Good friends with Dr. 0. They both like to joke around with each other and soundboard ideas off of one another. Sometimes 0 gets annoyed with 8’s unsolicited advice but he appreciates his help nevertheless. 8 helps 0 with anxiety, kind of like an emotional support human. In-game, out of all the Think Tank interactions with each other, 0 and 8 seem to talk to each other the most, which is very cute.

Has a dirty sense of humor. If you say something that sounds even slightly suggestive, he’ll run with it. Also has a goofy sense of humor too. Not afraid to wear, say, or do something stupid if it'll make other people laugh.

The local smut peddler. Has a sizable collection of dirty magazines and will lend them to anyone that asks nicely. Dala likes getting her hands on magazines starring Bettie Page and Mobius is curious about ones with robot/human relations.

8 can be lot of things, but being self-conscious isn't one of them. Not afraid to get busy on the dance floor at a party, even though he has two left feet. Also not a great singer, but that doesn’t stop him. He’s here for a good time!

Looks can be deceiving, because underneath the nerdy, balding exterior, 8 knows how to crank up the charm. A big flirt especially if he’s had a few drinks. Can be incredibly corny and silly with his pickup lines, but somehow it works, because it makes people laugh. Like Dala, he’s not really short of potential partners at Big MT.

8’s biggest kink are sex toys, to use on himself and on partners. Before the sonic emitter became a weapon, it went through several iterations as a “massager” medical device and as a marital aid, so he’s intimately familiar with its more fun features. Also likes to invent his own toys and sex machines and is always looking for eager volunteers to test them out. Also, if given permission, he likes to record sounds for his own personal use.

Masturbates as a form of stress relief. Was a lot more private about it as a human than as a tank (after 200 years of being a brain in a jar, inhibitions just fly out the window at that point). Usually does it in his home, but if he’s busy at work, he usually takes a break in his own office or in a supply closet in a quiet area of the labs, always with a magazine in hand.

When he’s not busy with work or socializing, 8 usually can be found with a tape recorder looped around his neck, recording different sounds around Big MT. He records almost anything: people talking, his colleagues, the buzz and whir of machines, music, Borous’s creatures/Gabe, basically anything that makes a sound. When he gets home, he then catalogs the sounds and puts them into a digital sound library. He uses the sounds for his audio experiments, like the sonic emitter, as well as stitching the sound samples together into music (similar to the plunderphonics music genre).

Likes pretty much every music genre, but is especially fond of blues and jazz. He also likes more experimental and avant-garde music, like avant-garde jazz, space age pop, and exotica.

He gave Mobius the idea of creating Blind Diode Jefferson and helped him build the jukebox, which he thought was a lot of fun.

Was very good friends with Dr. Boney (Doc Boney), who was a singer in the company band. They would collaborate together on music compositions for the company’s parties and 8 would often join in to play a set or two with a variety of instruments. Was really torn up at the news of Boney’s untimely passing when the singer was murdered by his wife.

Responsible for the Mysterious Broadcast, though back when he was human, it was just the Big MT company radio station. He curates playlists, takes music requests, and records general announcements for their employees.

Responsible for the bomb collars, tinkering around with their radio frequency. He eventually had to step away from the project because he had a hard time dealing with the human experiment portion of the tests.

Doesn’t enjoy conducting human experiments at all, but tries not to think too much about it. If other companies are doing it and if your own government condones it and gives you the green light, everything has to be fine, right?

Is a frequent Mentats user. While Mobius’s Mentats usage helps to give him baseline function in attention and energy, 8’s makes him very hyper. He gets a lot done, but all his running around and fidgeting annoys the hell out of his Think Tank colleagues.

Uses humor as a way to deflect from uncomfortable or tense moments. It sometimes comes off as awkward but at least he tries to be helpful.
