the hackerbait/scam bots have changed up their wording - I've seen this and another, differently phrased message getting repeatedly used now.

PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE WITH PEOPLE COMMENTING THAT THEY NEED TO TALK TO YOU ABT SOMETHING IMPORTANT IN DMS.

it is a scare tactic!

They will tell you that they accidentally reported you/your account and that you need to "resolve this with tumblr", maybe even send you a fake email telling you to reach out to someone on discord - IT'S ALL FAKE TO GET YOUR LOGIN DATA SO THEY CAN SPAM THOSE TRICK COMMENTS THROUGH YOUR ACCOUNT TOO.

an easy way to check if they're a bot or a hacked account is if they have their username as their title and their posts/reblogs don't go back further than 1 day and their first post is something like "hiiii" - those are fine to report as spam/bot!

Almost immediately after making an original post I was tagged on the post below, I've seen a few other users talking about these posts and my brother was tagged twice by two different similar blogs at the same time

At first, I thought I had gotten in trouble for reporting someone (who harassed me irl) multiple times, but I quickly noted a few suspicious things:

The account name being only random numbers

Tagging on a post made minutes before and blank blog when tumblr can email/send official notifications/etc. with multiple other people? when they're claiming it's a me problem?

"Suspicious activity" and " Several complaints from users about your recent posts" I've barely been on tumblr lately and I kinda doubt my friends and mutuals would report me for that

The whole thing is very vague and confusing, and it looks like it's trying so hard to look official and just missing the mark

The provided 'help' link has a typo in it. I didn't click the link but it says it does not lead to the tumblr help page

calling attention to the automated system because people already know how bad it is so they'll go along with it (same with the age verification)

"it's Very Safe™ we promise, with a cherry on top!"

And a myriad of other things but I'm tired and just want to post this

There's a scambot going around under the name of laumi-narry asking to be mutuals. Instead of the usual scambot tactic of a topless selfie lady or asking for money with a sob story, at first glance they seem like any other fandom blog with modern interests that just wants a new friend:

Nope, 100% bot that just wants your credit card info. Evidence shows up by searching their username. Block and report if this shows up in your inbox! Or block preemptively if you want.

Anyway, times being how they are, it never hurts to remember the rules of the wide wide world of web:

Don't send money to randos

Don't click links or download files in a DM unless you asked for them
