Is Gazavetters a scam? I keep getting told it is and when I ask about it I just get attacked so I do assume it is, bc they wouldn't attack me if they were real
But I'm still just unsure
And if they are a scam could you provide a better organization?
Ty, and its okay if you don't know I just wanted to ask someone who I know wouldn't harass me over it
Yes, I promise, they are all scams. It drives me nuts when people here, wanting to avoid being wrong, say shit like “well i think 90% of them are probably scams” because no, babe, THEY ARE ALL SCAMS.
I swear to you on my collectors edition copy of The Iliad and Odyssey, even the people saying “no this one DEFINITELY has a starving dying baby, pinky promise!” are lying to you. They are in on the scam and donating to them, more often than not, means your money is going to human trafficking. Real human trafficking, not just people working in the sex trade.
I actually linked to a bunch of resources right here that you can go check out:

But don’t let the intrusive thoughts fool you. Don’t let your anxiety or moral compulsion guilt you. There are no people begging for help on tumblr. I promise you.

(TLDR lists to ensure searchability: Commission Scammers | "Accidentally Reported You" Scammers | Tumblr Staff Impersonation Scammers | Misc Scammers/Spammers)
When I started posting the daily drawings from last year's #20252025Challenge, I knew that I'd be getting a lot of fake commission offers.
As and when they come, I call them out in the comments, usually something like "Bugger off [Scam Account Name] you commission scammer!", so that at least if someone searches for that account name they might find a warning.
I also always report them to @staff but until they get removed there's always a chance that someone could fall for their scam. The first few times I reported them it was awkward to find the right option that would allow me to also type in some context, since just the report on the account may not be enough.
Here's how I report them.
Go to the account page, click the three dots, click Report, then select Report Something Else, then Spam, and add something along the lines of ...
This account is a fake commission scammer. They target artists, especially new/young/impressionable ones with hopes, and offer a fake commission. The goal is usually to phish for personal information/hack PayPal and other accounts etc. Check their comments/replies to posts and their DMs and you'll find more information.
If they've already blocked me I can't see the three dots as I can't see the profile (and there's no report option if you're not logged in). So in stead of that, I use the abuse reporting page and fill in their URL manually:
https://www.tumblr.com/abuse/
If you want to see an example of what the interactions with these scammers might be like, check out this Instagram reel by Shionslife.
There is also the "accidentally reported you" scam which is going around. More information on this type of scam can be seen on this post by @thedumpzone, this BlueSky post by VGen, and this post by @kyra45. In short someone says they need to talk to you about your account and to DM them, they want to talk to you on Discord, they accidentally reported YOU because a scammer has that stole their money has a similar profile & they got their mass followers to report you too, talk to the "Tumblr support" via Discord/Telegram (not via Tumblr), oh no legal action, panic, scary, what to do, give them money and/or your paypal details, scammy scammy scam mc'scam.
Here's the text I add to the report for this scam:
This is a scam account running the "I've accidentally mass reported you, pay me to stop" scam. Check their comments on posts and DMs.
The same scam as banned accounts like @altnori, @shylyironlich and @reaperarts ran.
See this post: https://www.tumblr.com/thedumpzone/809816990951915520/shylyironlich-altnori-i-assume-you-two-are-on?source=share
I've also added a new post about scammers impersonating the Tumblr helpdesk account, claiming that your account has been restricted. You can read more about the Tumblr Staff Impersonation scam on my post here ( https://www.tumblr.com/darlosworld/814532124800696320/tumblr-help-impersonation-scam ).
Here's the text I add to report this scam:
This account is a Tumblr staff impersonation account. They are flooding the comments of posts to trick people into thinking their accounts are blocked and to click a dangerous link to fix it. They are relying on the email notification system also, so people think they are being emailed by YOU, the Tumblr staff!

I had just gotten a scam account comment on one of my blogs pretending to be apart of the "Tumblr Support Verification Team". I have not seen anyone talk about this yet, so I decided to make a post about it since I had no knowledge of it, and in hopes that someone may find this useful.
They claimed that I had "suspicious activity" on the account and that it was under investigation by the team, and that if I did not complete a verification form on the website in one day, my account would be disabled. The website itself looked to be a plain image of the tumblr dashboard (with some things missing) and a working "support chat" that frankly did not look like it was from Tumblr at all.
Here is a comparison for reference:
I automatically knew this was a fake website because I was already logged in on the Tumblr website— plus, the link was very suspicious and didn't seem official.
THIS IS A SCAM!
If ANYONE comments on your posts claiming any of this and leading you to a fake website (most likely called "verifiction-profile.digital"), DO NOT RESPOND OR PUT IN YOUR INFORMATION! Report and block the message. Your account is NOT restricted whatsoever and you can still use your account just fine.
I don't know if this is a new scam or if people already know about this— and, yes, it pretty obviously seems fake now that I look back on it— but I wanted to make a warning about it anyway in case this is relatively new or anyone finds it useful.
Edit: I've now seen only one or two other people report this, so I'm not the only one that's gotten it. Stay safe out there!
tl;dr support our writers and leave a nice comment, even just a❤️, cuz scam bots are mean and bad
Dear Readers,
Last night a longtime reader left me a comment on a wip. This is not unusual because I have amazing readers.
What has been unusual however is that over the last few days, I received 11 comments that were all scam bots. These more sophisticated bots are on registered accounts and can generate comments that look like actual excited happy praise about the actual fic and its contents (which also means that someone's also fed our work into an ai to form a summary review, another thing to be upset about).
Over the last few days I found out that I'm not the only one who's dealing with this, many other writers are currently being harassed and catfished by these more sophisticated bots.
But to have a real human reader leave a gem of a review was healing after days of finding out the excited happy reviews were just lies. The timing was wonderful, and I appreciate my reader so much for this meaningful kindness that inspires and keeps me going.
So please leave a comment for authors and creators on ao3 for the works you're enjoying or have enjoyed in the past. You don't have to do much, just leave them a little emoji heart ❤️or something. Or maybe a "Thank you for writing this, I look forward to more!"
Whatever you say, reach out to give our creative community some love so they know that actual people out there still care.

If you’ve received a notification like this and seen this post, BLOCK THE USER AND DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS!!
THESE ARE SCAM BOTS
Tumblr staff won’t mention you in posts to make a statement to you personally – that’s always done via email; official accounts always have a Staff Member badge.
idk if anyone whos following me has experienced the sudden flood of scam bots mentioning you and several other random people in posts asking for donations, but i sure have.
i got tagged in the replies of a post which had 4000 notes but almost all of them were like 5 different bots spamming mentions in the replies. definitely not suspicious at all...
anyway, just making my point that these are Scams, and if you dont want to be tagged in them, be sure to go into your settings and change who can mention you on each blog you have.
Mobile: settings wheel > account settings > mentions > tap blog of choice > dropdown
Desktop: blog settings > scroll down to mentions > click the dropdown
"everyone can mention me" is the culprit here i do believe, so turn that shit off. and do this with ALL your blogs, i got tagged on my art blog as well.
