BOØWY - Super-Califragilistic-Expiari-Docious
I think it’s worth mentioning that Gara’s (MERRY) appearance on sukekiyo’s PV for Candis is a reference to Kyosuke Himuro of BOØWY. That was my initial thought and this was confirmed when Gara posted this on his instagram story:
For those who don’t know who Kyosuke Himuro or BOØWY are:
BOØWY was a Gunma based rock band, active in 1981-1988. Himuro was the vocalist and later he pursued a solo career. BOØWY was the first big rock band in Japan and it’s considered pretty legendary. Many j-rock and visual kei artists credit them as an inspiration.
They are featured on lists of "100 Most Important Japanese Pop Acts" (HMV, 2003) and "100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time" (Rolling Stone, 2007).
Another very famous rock band from Gunma is BUCK-TICK, so visual kei roots are pretty strong there!
