Interview Summary

In this interview the band talks about their single PROTOPLASM and moving on from their European-inspired (tanbi) image for something completely different in both their look and sound.

(In my opinion I'm glad they did this, their earlier looks didn't feel modern at all though to be fair they were totally gorgeous)

PROTOPLASM represents a return to the band's origins and Satsuki reflected on his reasons for being in a band as part of the writing process for the track.

Takumi and Shun mention up until this point in their career, the track took the most time to record.

Re-recordings/remixes of the songs "Taiyou no Todokanai Basho" and "Tsuki de Namida" are included as the b-sides. The tracks have the band instrumentation stripped out and are intended to be more atmospheric.

Since this interview is conducted at the beginning of the year, there's a section about the theme of "Demons and Luck" based on the Japanese tradition of Setsubun where soybeans are thrown inside/outside the home while chanting Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi! ("Demons out! Good luck in!").

Takumi likes the kanji character for demon and wants to write his last name as oniyama (鬼山).

Shun jokes that Takumi's "parenting style" is like a demon and that will probably be his parenting style if he ever has a son.

Ryo wishes for more luck.

Satsuki says when he was a child he thought oni masks represented foreigners who washed ashore because they have red faces, are big, have blonde hair, and you can't understand what they're saying. (lmao wtf)

Mika says when it comes to Setsubun he thinks about the people who make the soybeans. He explains that when fathers play as the demon and get pelted by their kids with beans, they embody luck (fuku) the most.
