I really really liked this book! This is a wholesome, quick read. I probably would've finished this a lot quicker if I had a hard copy. 😅 Between life and death is a library that has an infinite number of lives not taken. The dark opening sets the stage for the existence of the library. The story reads of as episodic but that's aa given considering she's hopping through different lives! I really liked Nora. I felt all of her emotions and realizations. Shes a multilayered character and all her layers, as a sister, daughter, friend, lover and mother are seen throughout the many lives she lives to find the right one for her. The last life had me in tears. 🥺 This was an emotional read. Nora is in a desperate state of mind at the beginning and I liked how her thoughts change course. The book has a dark tone but it's balanced with love, warmth, affection and healing. There were many quotes on life throughout the book and I highlighted a few I liked (swipe). To summarize, this book is about living in the present and now. Not the what ifs and not the how's of the future either. I feel like on some level all of us struggle with this, living in the now (I do!) And this book was a wholesome reminder imo. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ P.S This is my first book by Matt Haig and I liked how he combined scientific concepts (quantum physics, climate change, etc) with art and fantasy. Can't wait to read more of his works. 😊 Definitely recommend. I started 2022 with this book, and I loved it. I devoured this fast-paced mystery in two days. Just 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I am in awe of the author's brain for putting together such a phenomenal mystery... I will say I guessed "who dunnit" before the big reveal, but there were so many plot twists, and I didn't see the end coming from a mile away. I like to keep my reviews spoiler-free, but briefly, Pippa is an exceptionally organized and motivated high school student who picks up a cold case for a school project. It initially gave me Adnan Syed case vibes from the serial podcast but its very very different. She's an A* good girl but puts her label to the test when she starts unraveling the mystery, hence the title! just genius 🤌🏻 I liked Pippa's relationship with her dad, so cute! she lives in a mixed family (white mum, Nigerian step-dad, and her little step brother Joshua), and I liked that she acknowledged the privilege that comes with color. This was addictive, compelling, a page-turner, an "I don't need sleep I need answers" book. I liked that it had no romance (Ravi Singh and Pippa were a very platonic, dynamic duo) and was just straight and forward about solving the mystery.
