This little quirk of mine...
So about 2ish years ago, I found a very strong passion for reading. If you'd ask me to read a book in middle school, I would've looked at you and thought you were crazy. But here we are. 2 years ago I read 24 books, and in 2026 I read 31. I am very satisfied with my overall increase of books per year but that year end total would be much higher if I didn't DNF (did not finish) books so often.
I don't have a preferred "taste" when it comes to books, I like them all. (minus non-fiction) I will start to read a book, guns blazing, ready to go. Then I will hit a point, it could be 50 pages in or 200 pages in, where the book no longer grabs me and I just put it down. Due to the feeling of defeat, I will then not pick up another book for a week or two which is definitely putting a slump in my reading.
My question to you all is... how do we prevent DNF'ing books? Do we just push through it although it isn't grabbing us and hope for the best? Do we look at hundreds of book reviews (trying our hardest to avoid spoilers) hoping those will help determine if the book aligns with our preferred type of read?
Regardless of what you do, or how you do it, I hope you always find books that bring you joy and a feeling of satisfaction. I sure did.
I cannot tell you how goood it is to finally be out of a reading slump. Actually, I can. It’s good. It’s realllly good.
does anyone have any suggestions to get out of a reading slump? the last book i read was about two years ago and ever since i can't get past two pages and my mind wanders off while reading

I’m so stressed for uni it’s not even funny!!!! I’m sure I’ll be okay once I’m there but the lead up is making me so anxious and depressed.
Also atm we’re reading Spare for the bookclub I’m in and it’s really putting me into a reading slump.
