I wanted to add something to this year’s Doomsday and I just love this quote from Hiccup’s encounter with the Northern Wanderers. It inspired me to try to capture that particular eye expression on paper--which was a fun challenge!

Did anyone else notice that when she used to be close to breaking Celaena/Aelin would say "My name is Celaena Sardothian and I will not be afraid" because that's what Sam taught her and she loved him SO DAMN MUCH that it saved her over and over, in the mines and other times

BUT then she met Rowan and that changed to "My name is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius and I will not be afraid" because yeah she still loves Sam and he will always be a part of her, but she loves Rowan too and Rowan reminded her of who she was - who she needed to be to make the world right again and then stood by her when she doubted that truth of herself

AND NOW IT'S NOT THAT AT ALL

Now, thanks to Rowan, thanks to the love and support and dedication he showed her, she doesn't NEED to rely on those old words not to break, instead she chooses something else ... him. The story she gave him. "Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom..." In the teaser she is choosing truth, the beautiful unvarnished truth of who she is and what she has done and what she must do, the truth he asked her for and the truth she gave him because she LOVES him, not in the way she loves Sam with her heart of burning wildfire. No, she loves Rowan with every scrap of fire and flame she has in her veins, loves him with a soul she believes is worthless, loves him with a heart that breaks every second they are parted, loves him so much it scares her, she doesn't just love Rowan, she would die for him, fight with him, follow him...
