Lance immediately calls bullshit on Bokar’s story. How do they know he’s actually a prince? Or where he’s actually from? Why is a prince traveling the universe alone without any sort of escort? However, he did save Allura, so the rest of the team is willing to give him a chance. Allura, for her part, is smitten and Bokar is invited to the Castle of Lions as their guest of honor. During dinner Lance continues to vocally express his distrust of Bokar before storming off to bed. Bokar attempts to kill Lance in his sleep by sending poisonous cobras into his bedroom via the air vents.

We also find out Lance sleeps with a knife under his mattress. Hmmm, a bit paranoid are we?

After the snakes are killed, Lance accuses Bokar of being behind the cobras, claiming the so-called prince is a snake and he’s brought all his friends along with him. Bokar acts confused and calmly points out Lance has no proof. Besides, Allura and Coran trust Bokar so much they ask him to pilot the Blue Lion and give him the key. To make a long story short, Lance successfully exposes Bokar as an agent of Haggar, whose real form is a snake robeast.

The other episode I want to discuss is “With Friends Like You”. The episode begins with a Galra/Doomite skull tank flying a white flag landing on Arus/Altea. Lance immediately suggests the tank’s pilot be locked up. Allura, however, wants to hear him out. The man introduces himself as Count Zane of Planet Philos, whose people have been enslaved by Prince Lotor. Zane also dishes out the details of the super weapons Zarkon and Lotor are developing on his home world. Zane then begs the Voltron Force to take him to Philos with them, claiming he’ll do anything to avenge his people and that he can safely lead them through Zarkon’s defenses. Everyone is fine with this except Lance, who states this whole thing has the stench of a Zarkon scam job.

Zane appeals to Allura, complimenting her intuitive powers and empathizing how they’re alike in their desire to protect their people. Allura agrees to let him come along in the skull tank he flew to Arus. Upon arriving on Philos, Zane heroically sacrifices himself to take out Zarkon’s missile defenses. The team is shocked and Lance even admits he was wrong about the guy. However, Lance was correct. We later see Zane, alive and well, having an audience with Zarkon, Lotor, and Haggar. Everything he’d done so far was a sham to lure the Voltron Force into a trap so Zarkon would appoint him Grand Mogul of Philos in exchange.
