Do you think Daniel, Larmina, and Vince from Voltron Force might have been some form of replacement to the main 3 cast in Gladiator Force? Since they do have similarities of being a kid trio, or is it just a coincidence
It's just a coincidence. The original concept for Voltron Force sidelined Keith and the other Voltron pilots in favor of five new cadet characters. Here's a blurb with the show's original concept along with pictures of cadets:
However, the lion guy and blue alien were scrapped during show's development, leaving only Daniel, Vince, and Larmina. So I seriously doubt they were meant to be analogs or stand-ins for the Albegas pilots.

Yeah it was probably a good thing Gladiator never came to be since itās doesnāt seem to give off the same charm as Lion or Vehicle plus the main protagonist Daisaku seems pretty unlikeable (granted they wouldāve probably edited out his pervy moments but still) though I do really like Hotaru character wise
I don't think American fans were deprived of anything from not getting Gladiator Voltron. However, it's hard to say how well it would've done had it came to fruition. I know Albegas flopped in Japan, which is part of the reason WEP scrapped converting it into Gladiator Voltron. Then again, GoLion didn't perform well in Japan either. But I just don't see it becoming the huge hit Lion Voltron did. So I think WEP made the right call by creating a second LV season instead.
If anything, though, WEP's editing probably would've made Daisaku at least a bit more likable. There's no way the scene where he imagines Hotaru's face unto the body of a topless model in a dirty magazine and says "I wish her boobs were that big!" would've made it past the censors.
Just a heads up beware of @themattress and @ultraericthered they have been harassing a lot of Lotor-sentric blogs as of lately just letting you know
I blocked both of them months ago after ultraericthered tried to pick a fight over a years old meta post of mine, and themattress accused me of being a brainless horny fangirl in the replies of said post.
A few years ago I posted about Gladiator Voltron, the proposed third Voltron season which was to be adapted from Lightspeed Electroid Albegas. Ultimately it was abandoned in favor of producing another batch of Lion Voltron episodes. About a year ago Toei released the first two episodes of Albegas with English subtitles on Youtube. You can watch both episodes here and here.Ā
This post is meant to be an update of my first Gladiator Voltron/Albegas post, with more detail about the characters and setting. I also briefly share my thoughts on the show based on the two episodes available.
SETTING AND STORY
In the future, the nations of Earth have been at peace with each other for many years. Our three protagonists, Daisaku, Tetsuya, and Hotaru, are talented students at Aoda School, which is famous for its robotics program and located near Mt. Fuji. Their lives are turned upside down when the evil alien Derringer Empire, who already rules the galaxy, invades Earth. Earthās only hope against this threat is the super robot Albegas and the three teenagers piloting it.
THE HEROES
Our heroes are teenagers who attend Aoda School in Japan. Each of them created a robot for a school competition. Their bots were later improved and modified so they could combine into Albegas.Ā
Daisaku Enjoji
Daisaku is brash, confident, loud-mouthed, and a total cad. Despite his bad grades, his skills in robotics are apparently superior to both Tetsuya and Hotaruās. He comes from a working class family consisting of his painter father, stay-at-home mother, cheeky younger brother Jiro, and a younger sister. Both he and Tetsuya have a crush on Hotaru, though Daisaku is more blatant and perverted about it. His hobby is soccer. Pilots Alpha Robo (black).
Tetsuya Jin
Tetsuya comes across as more reserved than his two teammates. Like the others, heās a student at Aoba School and skilled in robotics. Itās unknown what his grades are like, but at least one of his teachers, Ms. Danko Kibi, scolds him for his rebellious attitude. He and his sister grew up orphans with no other family to take care of them. Currently he lives alone in the school dorms. Tetsuya feels lonely and envies those who still have parents. What happened to his parents, along with the whereabouts of his sister, arenāt mentioned in the first two episodes. Unfortunately, heāsĀ something of a slob; his dorm room is a mess. Like Daisaku, he also has a crush on Hotaru. However, heās more subtle about it and expresses exasperation at Daisakuās pervy antics towards her. His hobby is playing guitar. Pilots Beta Robo (blue).
Hotaru Mizuki
Hotaru is the daughter of Professor Mizuki; her mother isnāt mentioned, but itās implied sheās been out of the picture for a long time. Beautiful, intelligent, and feminine, sheās the star of Aoba School and her class representative. Despite being adored by her teachers and the heartthrob of her male classmates, sheās bullied by her female peers. She also longs for a mother figure; thereās a scene where Hotaru outright tells her father and his assistant, Saeko Asabuki, that she approves of their relationship and hopes they get married so Saeko can be her stepmother. While annoyed by Daisakuās caddish ways, itās implied the attraction might be mutual. Her hobby is tennis. Pilots Gamma Robo (red).
SUPPORTING CHARACTERS
The allies, family, and friends of our heroes.Ā
Goro Kumai
HIS JAPANESE BLOOD TINGLES! A well-meaning but bumbling classmate of the main trio who serves as the showās comic relief. Goro does his best to help defend Earth with his self-made gorilla robot but heās simply out of his league. Daisaku considers him a burden while Hotaru pities him.Ā He has an unreciprocated crush on Hotaru.Ā
Professor Mizuki
A brilliant scientist and Hotaruās father. His knowledge of robotics is second to none. After the main trioās robots were nearly destroyed by invading Derringer, he not only rebuilt them, but made them much more powerful and able to combine into Albegas. He also serves as both a mentor and the voice of reason; he tries to encourage the trio to exercise caution and patience. However, his words often fall on deaf ears, and the trioās insistence on rushing headlong into battle against his repeated warnings frustrates him. But he believes in the trioās abilities. Itās implied heās sweet on his assistant, Saeko Asabuki.
Saeko Asabuki
Professor Mizukiās assistant and love interest. Sheās soft spoken, beautiful, and lady-like. Hotaru wants her as a stepmother.
Ms. Danko Kibi
An overbearing, outspoken and strong willed teacher at Aoba School. She takes her job very seriously, is fiercely proud of the school, and believes itās important her students grow to be strong, stout, and fearless. Despite not being the head teacher, she often gets her way through sheer force of personality.
THE VILLAINS
The villains arenāt very fleshed out, but given I only had two episodes, thatās not very surprising. Anyway, the Derringer are an evil purple-skinned alien race of conquers who have set their sights on Earth. They desire our planet for its beauty and consider humans primitive. Albegas is humanityās only effective weapon against their superior technology. Their giant robot Mecha-Fighters are the Derringerās most fearsome weapon.
Lord Deran the Great
Supreme ruler of the Derringer. We donāt actually see him in these episodes. The only information we learn about him is he desires all things beautiful as his own.
President Azass
The leader of the invading Derringer force stationed in a base orbiting Earth.
General Duston
President Azassās top officer, at least during these first two episodes. Heās ruthless, prideful, and doesnāt take humans seriously.
General Catastra
Another army officer on President Azassās orbital base.Ā
Dyme
Yet another Derringer officer. He considers Duston an incompetent moron for not taking Albegas more seriously as a threatĀ
LIGHTSPEED ELECTROID ALBEGAS
The three robots that compose Albegas (Alpha Robot, Beta Robo, and Gamma Robo) were not originally designed to combine together. Instead they were individually built by the main trio as entries into a school competition. When the Derringer attacked Japan, the three teens attempted to fight off the invaders in their robots, but were soundly defeated. Professor Mizuki, seeing the robotsā potential, both rebuilt and heavily modified them, making them far more powerful and able to combine together into multiple configurations. However, the three pilots, at first, donāt know and understand just how extensive the modifications were despite Professor Mizukiās repeated warnings. Unfortunately, circumstances in the first two episodes have not given them time for proper training. As a result, the pilots are learning about Albegasās abilities, and how to use them, in the heat of combat.
As stated, the robot comprising Albegas can combine in different ways, with each combination having its own specialization.
Denjin Dimension
Alpha, Beta, Gamma. This is the basic combat configuration. Can use the finishing move Denjin Sanbai Sword.
Sky Dimension
Beta, Alpha, Gamma. We donāt see any of its abilities, but Iām guessing it specializes in flight and/or aerial combat.Ā
Professor Mizuki mentions four other modes: Space, Sea, Underground, and Rescue.
My Thoughts
Do I think American Voltron fans missed out by not having Albegas localized? Not really. Between this, Golion, and Dairuggar, I feel this was the weakest show of the three, and I donāt think it wouldāve captured kidās imaginations the way Lion Voltron did. Granted, in some ways Albegas has more elements in common with GoLion than Diaruggar: small number of pilots, planet bound, faster paced, and a simpler story. But, again, I only have two episodes to go by, so I could be wrong on some of those points. But Iām interested enough that Iād watch more episodes if they became available.
I wanted to appreciate the ladies of Vehicle Voltron a bit. So, I went about looking at screenshots and redrawing them in the style for my VV/VLD AU.Ā
Iām gonna be honest, I really like the Vehicle team. I love how distinct and different the characters are. And I love that the girls all look so different from one another and do their parts to help with the team, even keeping them in line it seems.Ā
So! Hereās the the ladies!Ā
Iām going to be honest, I liked the slight changes made to the characters, from uniform design to appearances. I definitely had changes for Cinda. I had the basics, but with changes, especially the ears and hands, showing more like she is from a water planet as is said in the cartoon. And the spot on her forehead, making it a bit different works, too.Ā
Also! I wanted to give a shoutout to @voltronfandomhagā. You do wonderful work with providing information on the characters that has helped me so much in my research. You also provide wonderful screenshots. I was gladly able to check the screenshots you shared of these ladies to use for my redraw. Thank you very much.Ā
Anyway! I hope yāall enjoy these.
Until next time.

This is subjective of course but I'd say the worst incarnation of the character is King Lotor from 2011's Voltron Force.
I mean, the potential was there. Again, people are probably going to disagree with me, but I really do think there was a good story to be had with Lotor's setup in VF. He died and then was brought back to life years later through the use of an addictive, corrupting, and unstable magical substance. Not only is he addicted to the stuff, it's destroying his mind. That's some really dark, traumatic stuff.
However, what we get is Lotor being turned into the show's buttmonkey and Kenny. He's just a boring maniacal villain whose inhuman stupidity gets him killed over and over again. All the trauma and dark themes they assigned to the character were either explored in the shallowest way possible or played for laughs. Honestly, I wish Lotor had just been sidelined like the other DoTU villains and hadn't appeared in VF at all.
Honestly, it's part of the reason I dislike V3D Lotor too. Again, this version of Lotor has gone through a seriously traumatic event. He was nearly killed, badly disfigured, and most of his body was replaced with cybernetics. A lot of focus was put on his disfigured face, but the show states 80% of his body was now cybernetic. Yeah. Most of his original body was GONE. But this trauma and disfigurement was played for laughs in the show while Lotor's characterization itself was boring and generic. However, he at least as voiced by Tim Curry and never became the complete joke VF Lotor was.
As for best version, I think I'd have to go with Devil's Due Lotor, specifically his characterization in the comic's second volume. He had a sense of honor and moral code (which didn't really line up human sensibilities, but why should it?), didn't have the creepy obsession with Allura, and his relationships with Merla and Sven were both great. Also, unlike the versions of Lotor listed above, his trauma isn't played for cheap yuks. Sadly, this incarnation of the character was taken from us far too soon. Good night, sweet prince.
This blog is more or less dead, so why are people replying to posts that are literally years old to argue with me about my opinion on Lotorās treatment in VLD and getting outright insulting about it??? Iām not interested in having discussions or debates about VLD with anyone any more, so donāt bother, especially if you canāt be civil.
Did Allura get married to Keith in the 80s original Voltron
No. DoTU ended with Keith and Allura in the early stages of recognizing their feelings for each other and potentially building a relationship.Ā They were no where near the point of getting married.Ā
Why do so many of the Voltron remakes make Keith an angst pot or hardass? I don't get it.
Well, I donāt know for sure! It was a pretty common thing in fanon, though. Almost every fic made Keith an orphan for example. No, really. Fans could give him almost anything for a backstory, but him being a traumatized orphan was regurgitated over and over and over and OVER again to the point you were hard pressed to find literally anything else. And many Kallura fics made him an intense workaholic who was unable to see his own worth. This fanon may have influenced some of the earlier Voltron remakes, as the people behind them may have believed angsty Keith was what fans wanted.Ā
Also, I admit this is very subjective, but I personally find DoTU Keith kinda static and a bit of a blank slate. So maybe these writers, who felt the same, tacked the tragic backstoriesĀ in an attempt to give more meat to his character. The thing is, he still has defined personally in DoTU to expand upon and have fun with. Like, DoTU Keith does have an adorkable quality to him that gets overlooked by both DoTU fans and the makers or every Voltron incarnation. Heās idealistic to point of being starry eyed, has his goofy moments, and is shy about his feelings for Allura. Heās serious and focused on the battlefield, a good leader, accomplished, but still has a silly, boyish quality about him around those he loves and, despite his supposed cool headed-ness, and has some strong emotions. He can have a tough shell, but thereās a gooey, sweet marshmallow core at the center, if you ask me.
Ā However these arenāt the traits people choose to expand upon or develop for some reason. Maybe itās because these traits arenāt seen as deep or glamorous? Also, I think sometimes people confuse angsty and troubled for deep. Like, I feel like itās sometimes seen as an easy way to give the character more complexity. Donāt get me wrong, I donāt think thereās anything inherently wrong with troubled, traumatized characters withĀ a lot of baggage; thereās a lot of good characters out there in that vein.Ā But I donāt think Keith, as presented in DoTU, really fits that mold and itās not the only way to give a character depth. Not to mention thereās nothing wrong with simple characters; sometimes just making the character likable and fun is enough.Ā

"Or we that we hate most of the male GoLion pilots because they were 20 something year-old men who spent about half the series ogling a teenage girl." Can you explain this?
In GoLion all the male pilots had a crush on Princess Fala (Allura) to varying degrees. Iām going to show you a few examples to get my point across.Ā
Thereās a scene inĀ āIntroducing Beautiful Honervaā where Fala dashes straight to castle control from her bath, clad only in a bath towel, to answer Raibleās (Coranās) summons.Ā
The male pilots all blatantly ogle her:
The rest of this is going behind a cut because of all the images. Also, thereās going to be some discourse and salt. So if you want to avoid that, consider yourself warned.Ā
Thereās a scene inĀ āFriday the 13thā where the team is swimming in the lake surrounding the castle. Fala wears a tiny pink bikini.Ā
Here is Kurogane and Seidoās (Lance and Hunkās) reaction to the sight:
InĀ āAlteaās Sister Planetā thereās a scene where Fala lets her pet mouse Platt climb into her flight suit to escape the cold.
Kuroganeās reaction:Ā
InĀ āThe Prince Imperialās Dark Loveā Raible and the male pilots are rowing a boat around the lake while Fala waves to her people gathered around the shore. Kurogane asks Raible why theyāre doing this:
All the pilot pilots dive into the water and race to pick Fala flowers in hopes of receiving a kiss.Ā
All the male pilots also had crushes on Allura in Voltron. I also feel itās important to note that in both shows these crushes largely fade into the background as the story progresses. However there are a few key differences between how this plays out in GoLion vs Voltron:Ā
1) While Kogane (Keith) is also attracted to Fala, nothing becomes of it, with Kogane becoming more akin to a mentor/big brother figure to Fala. In Voltron this attraction eventually develops into a budding romance between Keith and Allura.
2) Alluraās age is never stated in Voltron. The narrative, however, treats her as around the same age as the grown male pilots. Also, changes to the time-line in Voltron vs GoLion suggest she could very likely be a few years older than Fala. Most people in the fandom headcanoned her as being around 18 to early 20s.Ā
3)GoLion states Fala is 16 years-old. Weāre never given ages for the male pilots but fans generally assume that theyāre around 20-24 years-old, with the obvious exception of Suzuishi (Pidge).
Now, this is where we get to discussion of how some of the self-identified anti-fans who actually watched GoLion handled this and the double standards involved. Most of them did, to some degree, acknowledge that supposedly 20-something year-old dudes wanting to romance a 16 year-old was problematic. This stuff was one of the reasons many of them condemned Kallura, including VLD Kallura, as problematic trash. Never mind Keith and Allura are both teenagers in VLD; never mind theyāre likely both adults in DoTU; never mind both of them are undeniably adults in Voltron Force and V3D. All versions of the pairing must be hated because of the GoLion dynamic.Ā Ā
However, many antis really liked Kogane, Kurogane, and Seido! They liked those characters in other Voltron retellings too, especially VLD (until they turned on the show, anyway)! You could argue that since all these characters were teenagers in VLD, it wouldnāt make sense to hate them because of what happened in GoLion. But remember, according to them weāre supposed to hate Kallura because of the age difference in GoLion. Also, according to their logic regarding Lotor, we canāt separate a character from their past incarnations.
This refusal to apply the same logic and standards to all the characters led to this weird state of acknowledging GoLionās problematic aspects while at the same time shifting blame or downplaying them when convenient. I once saw a post from anti-fan blaming Kuroganeās behavior towards Fala on the writers, for example. Like, I donāt know how to tell you this, but none of these characters have any agency of their own. Literally everything they do is because a writer had them do it. Then these fans would talk about how glad they were the guys (or the writers) ālearned better.ā
There were also a lot of post from these people calling the grown male GoLion pilotsĀ āspace dadsā and Fala their adopted daughter. Ugh, yeah, itās very obvious they didnāt see Fala as a daughter figure.Ā Ā Now, you could argue they eventually came to see her as a sister figure. Like I said, their crushes on her gradually faded away about halfway into the story. But why would people in their early 20s see a 16 year-old as a daughter to them?! lolĀ
But, of course, these types of fans are always going to find reasons why the characters and ships like are okay even when, by their logic, they should be condemned as problematic trash. Meanwhile, characters and ships they donāt like will somehow, always, because be garbage no one should ever touch. So naturally theyāre not going to apply a consist logic to everything or else their arguments would fall apart.Ā
One of the things I found most upsetting about VLD and the fandom was the weird moral double standard they applied to Lotor. According to the VLD writers, Lotor had just gone too far to be redeemed and HAD to die a horrible death. Then in the final season they turn around a redeemed Haggar, who abused her son, tortured people, and committed multiple genocides. But she, according to the narrative, still had good in her despite being objectively worse than Lotor on every level.Ā
Then thereās the fandom itself. Fuck. The tidal wave of hate began before the character even made his first on screen appearance. I remember a bunch of anti types screeching and whining about how you couldnāt separate Lotor from his previous incarnations, including Sincline. According to their logic, because Sincline was rapist and stalker, VLD Lotor was also a rapist and stalker. And if VLD was to redeem Lotor it would, by extension, redeem Sincline as well. They were the same character. Period. Expect, this logic again seemingly only applied to Lotor. No one was insisting we hate Coran because his GoLion counterpart was sexist. Or we that we hate most of the male GoLion pilots because they were 20 something year-old men who spent about half the series ogling a teenage girl. And, strangely, there were no posts tell us how we canāt like Zarkon or Haggar. Hmmm, funny that... These people were exclusively, and weirdly, obsessed with making sure no one liked VLD Lotor. And to this day I havenāt seen any of them post a coherent answer as to why.
Really, I could go on a lot of longer, but I think you get the picture at this point. Itās been something that has bothered me for awhile and wanted to get off my chest.Ā
Was Daibazaal's relationship with Sincline different than 80s Zarkon's relationship with Lotor?
Yes, Iād say so. The dynamic was toxic and abusive in both shows, donāt get me wrong, but there was a difference to be sure.
Initially Daibazaal seems fonder of Sincline than Zarkon is of Lotor. Thereās a scene in āThe Legendary Bridge of Loveā where Daibazaal tells Sincline how heās going to teach him what it means to be emperor.
This is also an interesting contrast to certain scenes in VLD. Anywayā¦
Honvera then informs them that Princess Fala (Allura) is overseeing the opening of a new bridge on Altea and how itāll be the prefect time strike. Sincline wants to lead to the charge, but Daibazaal wants Sincline to stay and party with him.
It also takes longer for Daibazaal to get fed up with Sinclineās failures. And when does lose his temper, Daibazaal even admits he initially went easy on Sincline because heās his son.Ā
Contrast this Zarkon who starts doubting Lotorās abilities before he even has a chance to do anything and more quickly becomes verbally abusive.Ā
Daibazaal also had a harder time controlling Sincline than Zarkon did Lotor. InĀ āThe Prince Imperialās Dark Loveā Daibazaal pleads for Honervaās help dealing with Sinclineās outburst about his mother and refusal to marry Princess Sahlia.Ā
None of this is to say Daibazaal is a better person than Zarkon or his relationship with Sincline was less abusive. Hell no. lol Daibazaal is a bastard who was, in some ways, worse than Zarkon. But I think was Daibazaal a more passive, prosaic and less intelligent character than his Voltron counterpart. Zarkon, despite DoTUās often hokey dialogue, had a more blatant, biting nastiness in his interpersonal relationships with others, especially with Lotor (and Iād also say Haggar too).Ā
Hey, I saw your post talking about the Voltes V fanboy who attacked the official forum. Good times! Do you remember RedLion? How about WetDiaperBoy? LotorsSlave? lmao
Wow, would you mind messaging me your forum user name? Because you must have gone way back on that board to remember the likes of RedLion or WetDiaperBoy. Holy cow!
And for those of you unaware, anon here is talking about a few of the troublemakers and trolls who haunted the now defunct official Voltron forum over the years. Since Iām certain very few of you know about them, Iāll go into a little more detail.
RedLion: Was most infamous for his unrelenting negativity, repetitiveness, and endless complaining about the Voltron comic published by Devilās Due. The fact he didnāt like the DD comic wasnāt the problem. The problem was his habit throwing a tantrum across multiple threads on both the Voltron forum and the DD forums about everything he disliked in the latest issue. Pretty much any deviation from the 80s show upset him. When people finally snapped at him or asked him to give it a rest, heād then bemoan how he couldnāt post an opinion without being attacked. Like, dude, itās not your opinion thatās the problem so much as itās your burning need to post said opinion 75 to 100 times in the same thread.Ā All this from a man who, at the time, was in his late 50s.
WetDiaperBoy: A particularly infamous troll who went on a rampage when the boardās sole admin went on vacation. Antics included trying to impersonate the admin, sending messages to various board users threatening to ban them, creating an army of sockpuppet accounts with increasingly offensive user names, and spamming the forum with racist, homophobic, and sexists posts. This lasted until admin returned from his vacation a few days later.
LotorsSlave: Stereotypical fangirl: obsessed, belligerent, unable to accept the character and shipping preferences of others, and not very bright. Sheād start threads on the board detailing her personal fantasies about Lotor to near TMI levels then whine about how no one responded to them. The fact Kallura was more popular than Lotura was also very upsetting to her. Like, I understand the frustration that comes when your preferences go against fandom norms. Thatās pretty much the story of my life in fandom. But that doesnāt mean everyone who doesnāt share your preferences is an idiot who needs better taste blasted into them.Ā
This probably isnāt a surprise given the lack of activity here, but Iām putting this blog on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Voltron isnāt inspiring me and I just canāt finish anything I attempt to write for this blog. Iām sorry if this disappoints anyone but creating content for this blog is supposed to be fun, but itās just not anymore and hasnāt been for awhile. My fan-ish interests have also shifted to The Dragon Prince and Iām currently running a blog for that, which Iām enjoying. However, Iām leaving my ask box open and Iāll do my best to answer any Oldtron related questions you might have. Feel free to message me if you want too.
Thank you everyone who has supported this blog in some way.Ā

Hi there. Just updating that Bandai Spirits is actually uploading the entirety of Dairugger with English captions in higher quality, so you donāt need to resort to illegal sites or shill out hundreds to buy the DVDs from scalpers.
Although Voltron nowadays doesnāt take a lot from Dairugger, and really the only thing that survives from it is the Galaxy Garrison, I do urge you to at least check out the other series that made Voltron possible.
Donāt be turned off from the size of the cast, they really only focus on 8 of the 15 team members. Since many of you are more familiar with VLD, I think you can appreciate that Diarugger emphasized more on space exploration and morally grey antagonists which Golion lacks.
Did 80s Voltron fans have any misconceptions about GoLion? Were there fan theories that were eventually proven wrong?
Fans didnāt realizes just how different GoLion was from Voltron in terms of both characterization and plot. A lot people viewed GoLion as a more violent, adult version DoTU. This changed over the years more information about GoLion slowly tricked out. Like when someone on a fan-run Voltron forum got a Japanese friend to watch and translate the scene where Sincline (Lotor) kills Honerva (Haggar); thatās how Western fans found out about Sincline being half Altean and Honerva being Daibazaalās (Zarkonās) mother. That sent serious shockwaves through the fandom and really started to change how people viewed GoLion.
There were also some unconfirmed rumors flying around about GoLionās production. One claim thatād pop up from time to time was that Sincline and Fala (Allura) were originally going to be half-siblings. However, Iāve seen absolutely nothing from any official source verifying this.
Some fans also had a tendency to project their own wishes and fantasies onto GoLion, which the lack of information made easy to do. A rumor somehow started on the official forum that in the episode āThe Seven Free Planetsā (The Summit Meeting in DoTU), Kogane (Keith) confesses to Raible (Coran) thatās heās in love with Fala. As you can imagine this sent many of Kallura shippersā hearts a twitter and soon the entire fandom was abuzz about it. Many of these fans long carried a desire to see Keith and Allura confess their love, and I guess this played into that fantasy and made them feel validated. However, a forum member who went by the name of Arus talked a Japanese friend into watching the scene. Turned out it was nothing even close to a love confession; Raible and Kogane were discussing training Fala to pilot the Black Lion.Ā
Again, this also comes down to projecting what they knew about DoTU onto GoLion and failing to separate the two shows. Granted, since GoLion wasnāt available in English when this happened, itās a lot more understandable in this instance.Ā
