now, I raise you; Jessica is secretly an agent for the British Men of Letters to spy on Sam bc the BMOL knows about the yellow eyed demon and is scared about the possibility that demon's may be able to multiply by feeding humans their blood. Jessica is send to observe him but after 4 years, is decided he's not a risk and everything is fine.

just before jessica is pulled out, she is almost killed by the yellow-eyed demon, but her extraction team pulls her out before she can actually die, but after sam sees her on the ceiling, so he thinks she's dead.

after she recovers from the stabbing and burning, Jessica asks about Sam and is told he thinks she's dead, found the yellow eyed demon and killed him, and then went back to college and moved on with someone else. they tell her he's happy and set to be married.

that low key breaks Jessica, who was secretly in love with sam, but she recognized that she can't be with him long term anyway bc she's a british spy, and Sam is happy and in love with someone else, she can't take that away from him.

England has been basically devoid of monsters for decades if not longer, but then in the span of like 10 years the gates of hell got opened, demons, ghosts, and monsters got stronger and bolder, angels started appearing again and then fell to earth. BMoL pretend everything is fine and that they have a handle on everything, but they're struggling because at this point in time they're primarily made up of pencil pushers and academics.

Anyone who has fought monsters is used to them being singular, weakened and having a massive numbers/technology advantage, and even then has little practice because there's practically no monsters around. Because of the rise of their fancy tech and locking down the island, they've caused the hunter class to go extinct, so it's only BMoL operatives, and they are DROWNING

The reason they didn't help with any of the apocalypses is because they didn't have anyone to send! everyone was busy and they were barely holding it together! recalling the demons, angels (and possibly the souls Billie gathered) to fight Amara freed up the small handful of people they were able to send over. Not only would Toni have been sent over to find out what the hell was going on in the US, but also to figure out how they haven't all died yet. THAT'S the reason they're in the US at all, to learn and pick up tricks on how to fight off the much stronger monsters, demons, angels. They have all the research, lore, and theory that they could want, but they have not been able to test it and have little practical experience

Only, they find out that it isn't just the techniques and experience that makes the US hunters survive, it's the particular type of people that end up being hunters. People that are resourceful, adaptable, stubborn and willing to jump in face first. They're also extremely fighty, and most of them are on vengeance quests. That's not something you can educate into someone, especially people who spent most of their lives sitting safe behind desks. at least not fast enough. They're still there under the pretense of ridding the US of monsters (because they have pride and don't think the hunters will help if they show weakness) so when they can't get enough the US hunters to join up with them, and the ones they can get all have different techniques and aren't great teachers (they don't know that's their job, everyone has their own ways of doing things and there are many don't use quantitative measures), or they can't get the hunters to leave the US with them, the BMoL turn to kidnapping and brainwashing (because killing off the hunters is stupid) Hey, it worked on Mary Winchester and look at how great that turned out!

The plan is to poach US hunters to supplement in england and help them deal with the their monster problem, and secondarily to murder Sam and Dean. Sorry, they've been watching the Winchesters for y e a r s and their conclusion isn't to kill them? especially after finding out that they've dealt with the most recent world ending measure?

I'm gonna make a different post about how I think the Lucifer/nephilim business should have gone, but in this case the BMoL think they can handle this themselves, especially cuz they have Mary and a bunch of other hunters under their thumb
