The Blockterfs situation
I had to make this today as I was too angry to yesterday. The blog @/blockterfs has put multiple trans people in danger, including myself, by adding them to their terf/transphobe blacklist. All over a disagreement on tagging. I'm Cosmic at the-queer-and-beloved and we're a queer positivity blog. At the beginning of all this, blockterfs reblogged one of our posts, tagging it "q slur". Now we have asked on our blog for our posts not to be tagged as such. Mod Angel used their personal blog to politely ask them to retag it or to not reblog. Blickterfs responded that "they'll tag how they want" and referred to our identity as "discourse". They then threatened to delete, blaming us and feminismandmedia. But they changed their mind, then releasing a new update to the blacklist. With QB, fam, and some of the mods' personal blogs not in the update, but in the first version of the list. Claiming that we were harassing trans people. All because we called them out. Not to mention that all of us at the-queer-and-beloved are trans and all but one at FAM are too. Terfs often use these blocklists to find other terms. Exposing us to terms and risking ostrizization. They them proceeded to call anybody pointing out their shitty behavior "trolls". Mod Kiwi is very stressed over this and won't be online for awhile. Blockterfs is both queerphobic and transphobic for putting us in danger.
Imma say it. I and other trans & nonbinary people, as well as queer people, deserve an apology from @/blockterfs especially if they were added to the “transphobe blocklist” despite not being transphobic and being trans themselves.Â
Actually every trans and nonbinary person deserves an apology because they have contaminated what should have been a good resource and given a bad name to anyone else running helpful sites like this.Â
Like if you’re trying to help trans/nb people and help them block transphobes, you shouldn’t put them on the very same list if they aren’t transphobic. This puts them in harms way in so many ways.Â
If you mess up, that’s fine! But you need to be willing to apologize and rectify your problematic behavior, not doubledown, play victim, or call people who are respectfully calling you out “trolls.”Â
You hurt people. You need to own up to hurting people and make changes to your behavior to prevent it from happening. As it is now there are still people on that blocklist who don’t deserve to be there. They got on there because they said “hey this is wrong.”Â
I’ve run big blogs before. If you can’t handle people giving you criticism on problematic behavior, then that’s not good. You need to listen to people especially the ones being actively hurt by you. Especially because the ones coming to you were part of a minority group.Â
Also to all the people defending them, shame on you. Strange that the people I see defending them are ace exclusionists or queerphobes.Â
hey folks. i’m gonna keep this real short.Â
decided to do people a favor and claim this url so no one else can use it and risk anyone getting hurt. i have literally 0 involvement with ANY of the previous owners and i’m not going to do anything with this blog except keep it under lock and key.
there are a bunch of other blogs dedicating their time to helping keep folks safe, i’d recommend yall track those blogs down and support them and follow them. this blog is going to remain dead.
lolol. did you see blockterfs new post and their tag? you can tell all they wanted was to put queer people on the list because they're a queerphobe, moking the term queer

Well, I think it’s fair to say that @blockterfs has gone straight past being unwilling to act with accountability straight into openly displaying bigotry phase.
This is what it looks like when someone in your community outs themselves as harmful to others. At this point my only recommendation is that y’all should block @blockterfs to protect yourself, because there’s no telling what kind of harm they’re going to cause in the future, and it’s pretty clear that they’re an exclusionist that’s happy to harm queer people along the way.

Trolls are a legitimate issue to be aware of, especially if you happen to be a bigger blog. But it’s a huge red warning sign when someone treats all criticism as “trolls” and refuse to actually acknowledge their wrongdoing.
This is toxic behavior 101. Being unable to deal with it is NOT an excuse to be shitty and phobic to a group of people you have chosen to defend. If you are unable to deal with criticism? Give the job to someone else who can deal with the strains of it with better aplomb. You are banking on blind loyalty to validate your queerphobia and rude behavior.
They’re trying to backtrack and defend their decisions. I, quite frankly, find this disgusting. We’re here, we’re fucking queer, get used to it, asshole.
[The person who sent in the ask has been blacked out for their own privacy.]
“trolls”Â
we literally asked them politely to either delete a reblog or tag it differently. That’s.. a common interaction between people, especially if they follow them. I have followers who say to me “hey can you please not reblog this from me” or “hey can you change how you tag because it could be considered offensive to me or triggering”Â
and... I do? That’s just what happens? I don’t even think we were rude to them. Just upset once they blocked us and acted like we were the bad people.
We also are trans users and they’re adding us to a list of TERFs. TERFs use blocklists to follow each other..so what do you think that’s going to do? Encourage TERFs to follow us and harass us.Â
So uh, they might be the ones who are harassing trans & nonbinary people. We did nothing to harass trans & nonbinary people. We asked politely.Â

The thing I find most upsetting and irritating about the block//terfs thing is that the "queer is a slur" argument is distinctly TERFy. Almost everyone I've met who refused to acknowledge that "queer" is, at this point, a fairly common and useful term, has turned out to have some sort of radfem beliefs-- whether they were TERFs, SWERFs, kink-critical or exclusionist. Which makes me wonder which of those block//terfs is.
I know. It's wild, honestly. And putting trans folks on the blocklist and refusing to remove them unless they apologize is transphobic.
