Disabilities can be empowering, but also socially hindering. One man on the cruise I went on appeared to be blind, wearing sunglasses occasionally and carrying a cane meant for blind people. I was definitely supportive - I wasn't going to be rude or anything to him, I'm not an assbag. On a beautiful train ride I went on, I noticed that he was also on it! I was ready to give up my seat if he needed it, a bit confused as to why he would come on a sightseeing tour if he couldn't... See... But then he folded up his cane. And put on glasses. And started reading the back of a DVD case, that did NOT have any braille on it. I was pissed - exploiting a disability just for benefits and whatnot on a cruise. Don't fake something like that without a VERY GOOD REASON, which is extremely hard to come by!! Once the ride was over, he took off his glasses and unfolded his cane, asking for assistance to get off the train, which would've essentially let him have everyone else do all of the work.
