(hi I was the anon who first sent the ask I get nervous sometime ahshdbsj) honestly my biggest question is since Luke's backstory has obvs been changed are there other characters have had their past changed as well? Like a butterfly effect or is it only luke who's really different? Also "Darth Vader Marie kondos his life" is the best thing I've ever read and it makes me think of him arguing with Luke that "yes choking that subordinate DID spark joy"
hey hey no worries! i’m glad you feel comfortable enough to write now!!Â
that’s actually a really interesting question. as you probably gathered by obi-wan’s interlude, beru and owen die young and unexpectedly. that’s really the butterfly flapping its wings, so to speak. when we catch up with vader at the start of the story, this is where we’re really seeing the effects of what happens when luke isn’t who he is, canonically. up ‘til this point, everything’s pretty much been the same for everyone except luke and obi-wan, so we’re really gonna see things take effect for other characters in the next series. the only person whose past has changed has been luke and it hasn’t been, uh, for the better. >:D
marie: does choking your subordinates spark joyvader, bleakly: nothing sparks joy for me in this hellish existence. despair is my only companion. i crave solitude and end of all life more than i even cherish the thought of deathmarie: …i see
it’s probably not clear in the narrative yet, but what i’m really enjoying writing and playing around with is a reverse dynamic between luke and vader: vader’s got to step up to the plate on his own accord, to eventually save luke.
save luke from what, you ask? well, we’re going to find out…>:{D
