Followers May Not Know - Fun Facts:
• I'm a Christian! (If you don't know this, that's a failure on my part.)
What that means: I believe that Jesus Christ was and is fully man and fully God, the Son of God, who came to Earth in order to die and take the punishment for all my sins, and that after He did that, He was placed in a tomb and was resurrected after three days. I believe Jesus is the only way to God; the only way to Heaven. I believe there is an afterlife. I believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, His chief way of communication, and that it is living and active. It is trustworthy, it is authoritative in my life, and I believe everything it says. I believe there is nothing good in me apart from Christ. Truth is objective, not subjective. There is only male and female. Marriage and romance is designed by God to be between one male and one female exclusively. Life begins at conception. There is one God.
• I'm married! My husband is a foot taller than I am.
• I'm old. I'm not a minor, and I'm not college/university-aged anymore.
• I have a twin!
• My favorite color is red.
• I want to be a professional author someday, but for now I work from home!

“The memorial of [Jacob’s] weakness was to be with him as long as he lived.… How pleased would you and I be to go halting all our days with such weakness as Jacob had, if we might also have the blessing that he thus won!” -Spurgeon on Genesis 32:24-32

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
question !!! were you raised in a heavily religious environment?? i was too, tho not a christian but another religion which condones homosexuality, i grew to accept these wonderful people around me, as a straight individual, who is practising islam, i have many friends and family members who are homosexuals! though it didn't sit with me well at first, i grew out of the conception that human beings had black and white in them, though it is stated as harem, human beings are human beings, and they all have wonderful things in them :) (ps: i do not consider racisits, rapists or abusers human beings)
I will amiably disagree with you in specific areas, stranger.
Rapists, racists, and abusers are all human beings. They’re as human as it gets - human beings are wicked at heart, the Bible says. Left to our own devices, we all have the capacity for great evil. (Of course, you have to know where you’re getting the concept of - and standard for - things like “good” and “evil”. What makes it good? What makes it evil? Define them. Where’d you get the definition from?)
The Bible also says redemption is possible for everyone through Christ. Even human beings who have already committed great evil. The idea is, though, that once you’re no longer a slave to sin and evil, you belong to Jesus, and are therefore finally capable of turning away from those evil desires. That’s called freedom! I’m a dirty rotten awful evil sinner, left to my own devices. The only good thing in me is Jesus.
I understand you have a different perspective due to growing up in a different environment and experiencing different things than I did. I’m happy to tell you a little of the ol’ origin story!
By the grace of God, I was raised by two Christian parents. My dad came to Christ as a 19-year-old when I was born. He did not grow up with Christians. His family has been raping, abandoning, killing, and abusing one another for generations - he is the outlier. He’d been a drug dealer since he was 13 years old, persistently immature and careless. My mom, 9 years older than Dad, was raised in a Christian home but had turned away from God and was living in sin and selfishness with my dad until I and my twin sister were born. We were born extremely premature, with my sister having a 50% chance to live. I had a 15% chance. My whole body fit into the palm of my dad’s hand. We were expected to die, and if we lived, we were projected to have all kinds of medical issues.
Decades later, by pure miracle, we’re both alive and healthy, with zero of the foreseen issues doctors predicted. Our birth and the miracle of our continued existence led directly to my mother returning to church, and Christ rescuing my father at age 19. He’s a pastor now. (His whole family is to this day baffled by him.)
Regardless of where you come from, you can discover the truth (the objective truth), turn to Jesus, and because of Him, everything will be different. Not perfectly, but definitively. Ongoing.
I understood Jesus, God, and salvation for the first time between ages 4-5, but I gave my life to Christ at age 13. My parents and church family could preach the truth to me all day long; it was up to me to decide if I believed it, and to choose Jesus over myself.
Now. Moving on.
Islam and Christianity are vastly, inherently, totally different from one another. In one example relevant to our conversation: the Qu’ran commands punishment (speficially, torture and/or death) for practicing homosexuals. (Particularly the women doing this, but then, Allah’s not the biggest fan of women, it seems.) The Bible calls homosexuality a sin, but the Bible never commands any Christian to punish, torture or kill those practicing it. Christians are called to love people as Jesus does—and Jesus loves even those human beings actively choosing to practice sin and hate Him. He doesn't love their sin, He loves them, and wants them to be free from sin. He doesn’t want them dead. He wants them to have life, and hope, and real joy.
Unlike the Qu’ran, the Bible details God’s rescue plan through Jesus (who is God), which allows sinners to be free from bondage to sin and to have eternal life, gaining Jesus’ righteousness while He took the eternal punishment for sins He never committed. That includes homosexuality, and the sin of me lying to my husband. Or a kid disobeying their parents. Or a serial killer murdering someone. Sin is sin. (I don’t hate sinners - I am one.)
Christians know you don't have to work to earn the true God's love. He loves you already, not because you're worthy, but because He's good. Real love doesn't let you stay in your sin, where you are most miserable, destructive, lost. Real love rescues you, and you don't have to daily strive to earn it. Jesus took care of the gap between you and God.
Every human being is created by God; every human life has value. Every person is unique, made by a divine Creator. That’s what’s wonderful in humans. There is black and white in this world - real good and real evil. Right and wrong. People are evil, and God is good. Anything good in me is not me, it’s Jesus working through me.
I have questions for you now! What religion did you grow up in which condones homosexuality? Why didn’t homosexuality “sit well” with you at first?

"You don't have to love the sin," Nicky said, "but you're supposed to forgive and love the sinner. Isn't that what faith is about?"
this is my take on faith and surprisingly also a ao3 quote of a good fanfic on the book series "all for the game" with a main queer ship :3 !!
the parents of nicky have very similar views to you! i thought if that was the case this could speak to you like it did to them and change your mindset a bit :) ! this world is filled with so much hate, i rather prefer putting my points across in a peaceful manner !! xx
-a very bisexual person ><
I think I understand what you might be hoping for here, and I like that you prefer to communicate peacefully.
Forgiving someone does not mean you call what's wrong right or what's right wrong. Loving someone doesn't mean condoning that which you know is wrong, outside of God's design, and will hurt the individual. To say to someone you love that their sin is okay with you is the opposite of love. "I know you want to touch the stove, and I love you, so if it makes you happy, touch the stove! I'll forgive you for burning yourself later, and when you want to go on making decisions like that and get burnt, I'll be quiet because I love you." It's unloving.
Loving the sinner is not condoning the sin. Jesus exemplified that perfectly.
If I care about someone's well-being, I'm not going to support that person doing something I know is wrong, and I'm not going to support that person doing something I know is not good for them.
Nothing short of the clear and accurate translation of God's actual Word will change my mindset. The Bible is already clear on this subject. I will not change my mind. I will not compromise. This is what's true and I'm sticking to it, even if it's uncomfortable for others or myself, even if people decide I'm being hateful. Even if it's unpopular. If it hurts you, okay. I'd rather your feelings got hurt than to say what's bad for you is good in order to save face.
The Bible was clear. God is clear. I know the truth and I won't budge.
Hate is to wish death on another person. It's to desire harm to come and to celebrate when it does. This world is filled with hate and with the behavior I just described. I won't be participating in it, and I also won't be going against what God said just to avoid insults or conflict.
As for faith - no, loving and forgiving the sinner is not what faith is about.
