In the works
Some more WIP. Some are bisque fired and some are still greenware waiting to be bisqued! 😌 sadly some were already bone dry that I ended up reclaiming + I didn’t get to put some handles on some my pieces but that’s okay. Next time. I’m just super excited for handbuilding in January. 💕
loading the wee kiln with flowers i made for a client... they're firing rn and fingers crossed, i'm nervous about the wall thicknesses. and if they stand this i want to fire them stoneware......... so nervous..............
also my beloved said that one flower looked In Fact like a Cabbage so i googled flowrs that resemble cabbages and was not disappointed, green to purple colour scheme
Went to pick up the kids from the kiln yesterday and everyone seems to have had a lovely time!! I'm so fascinated by the bisqued colour of the black clay - I know it'll get a bit darker in the glaze firing, but also this warm brown is very pretty??
I'm also THRILLED that none of my bowls developed cracks during the drying/bisque fire! My new bowl-making tool really helped me compress those bottoms!

Can you explain what temperature each cone is to me?
My underglaze calls for cone 4 or 3 and I tried looking it up, but DuckDuckGo is absolutely useless for this kind of thing. :(
tbh, I don’t think I know enough about it to really explain it, I’m not super knowledgeable about that side of things. but I do have a handy little chart that should help
and Cone 4 is 4, not 04. 04 would be your first firing, the bisque fire, 4 would be your glaze fire. I know that’s tripped me up before
I hate loading bisque kilnsssss. I’m still uncomfortable putting plates on their sides on the kiln shelf, but several people have said they warp less if stacked that way so… 🤞🏼
(there’s a ton of stuff in there that isn’t mine, I loaded a bunch of student pottery to help fill the kiln)
bisque fire: complete ✅
my glaze fire date is April 14th, so I’ll be getting finished work back around the 17th. a few pieces I had hoped to be ready for April didn’t make it into the kiln, I’ll update those people in the next couple days (between frantically painting and glazing lol)
