So, first time behind the pottery wheel after about a year. The foot pedal broke, I fixed it and decided to use it upside down because, why not? I couldn't thrown a cylinder to save my life, but hey I still know how to center the clay. That's a win. I feel a bit disappointed, and pissed, but I know I need to give myself time. It's been way too long and it's not like I was a master at it before. I need practice. And patience. I'll try again tomorrow 💪

Man, there’s nothing like hauling a 70 lb pottery wheel out of your basement all by yourself and trying to find the tool to dismantle the legs so it fits in the trunk of your car ðŸ¤

Finally uploaded this one...oops. It doesn't photograph well, since the plate is fairly uneven in terms of base thickness (I think this was my 2nd, 3rd thrown plate of semester?) So I've got a few close ups under the cut to better show off some of my favorite details, as well as a mini yap about the process- No reposting, please :)
Okay, so- I LOVE how this one turned out in spirit. Quality? A little less- A had to use a different clear coat for my underglazes this time, which unfortunately made a lot of my colors burn off or severely lighten after firing. It also left a lot of sandy, dark speckled across the piece, which is unfortunate but isn't too noticeable, thankfully. Just sort of makes the piece look unclean-
The reason for all the bumps and skids across the piece and border is that I accidentally dropped the piece onto my hand while trimming it, oops- I thought it fit the quote well though, and I'm so happy I carried on with this one ^^
