We built a kiln!
And I made a horsey kiln God and tossed her in the chimney while we burned out the frame!

Here is the grand prize to Djano, for winning the solo race in The Amazing PEAK Race III! This is his third victory in a row, and has won every single solo race so far. Once he gets to The Kiln, he's just unstoppable, and going by this picture, it's completely understandable why. Well done, dude! :3
Djano's previous prize, with a similar theme, can be found here: https://temiree.tumblr.com/post/809574145905115136/believe-it-or-not-djano-has-won-two-prizes-from

How does glazing work? In the photos you just posted it looks like a solid layer like mud I was picturing it like a translucent coating like paint or modge podge. Does it peel off after firing?
it actually melts! it hardens into that glassy finish once it cools. often the glazes are completely different colours before and after firing.
ceramic glaze composition is a bit beyond me tbh—it’s either chemistry or witchcraft lol
ceramic glaze coats the bisqueware and melts in the kiln. that’s why you have to be sure there’s no glaze on the bottom of pieces, or anything leaning against the piece, because once the glaze cools it will be attached to whatever it was touching
(and these ones have glass marbles over the clear glaze—they melt down and create a cool watery effect)
Double Fine just launched its latest game Kiln
My finished Arcane inspired ceramic piece!! (Click for higher quality-)
This one was a trial run for when I throw my own plate on the wheel, but I had the opportunity at a ceramics painting place and wanted to test my design out and see how much detail I can incorporate without underglazes. I'm incredibly proud of the overall piece, though Vi gave my quite a bit of trouble and I do wish I'd spent more time on the middle, as it's fairly messy. But LOOK AT JINX!!!! AH!!!
Reference image under cut :) let me know if you'd like to see some pre-fire photos, I've got a few as well <33

Unloading luster friends from the small kiln! Mostly dragons 🐉 ✨
Portobello Kilns, Edinburgh
OK I've accepted I'm not going to fully finish this BUT DO YOU SEE MY VISION??
The Kiln would be another furnace type block (because we need one of those ofc smh) but you could smelt a single pot in a regular furnace.
You would first dye a pot with dye in a crafting table, which would color the terracotta. If you then chose to smelt the pot, it would form colorful glazed terracotta patterns around the pot. I imagine this could be overlayed with the sherd patterns, but maybe not.
I just feel like glazing is the next logical step with terracotta pots!
