Goodbye
Bonnie Bennettâs Rarepair Bash: Day 6
Kai Parker/Bonnie Bennett
âGoodbyeâ A word that Bonnie never dreamed that she would say to her friends and fully mean. The finality of the word for her and how she knows that what she really means is that sheâs done with it all⊠is almost enough to send her into shock. Almost. She can hear them trying to talk to her, but itâs muffled as though theyâre speaking through a thick metal door that she has slammed closed in her mind and heart.
Bonnie figures that sheâs in shock that she finally took that final step and meant it, still means it. Though she acknowledges the shock in a completely detached way. It isnât until a male's face starts swimming into focus that the rushing in her ears finally starts to lessen and give way to ringing. She can hear just well enough to know that the man is saying her name and Bonnie tries to mutter that sheâs fine. From the way heâs frowning and the worry in his eyes tell her that sheâs failed on that front.
He cups her face gently with both hands and Bonnie canât stop the full bodied shutter at the liquid warmth his hands have as it travels through her body. He moves his hands from her cheeks and cups her hands with his. Bonnie tries to rip her hands away when it feels like heâs burning her.
She just barely makes out his words. â...your hands⊠freezing coldâŠ-et you back home⊠magic is wild⊠-ed to siphon some⊠stop you from -oying the town. -illing everyone.. -ive mile radius.â He goes back to cupping her face and Bonnie whimpers at how terribly good it feels. She barely notices that his hands are glowing red. However her slow mind acknowledges that it compliments him greatly.
Bonnie slowly comes back to consciousness, not remembering ever losing it in the first place as Kai carefully lays her down on her bed. She wants to question how he got into Gram's house. She wants to yell at him and hurt him as badly as he had hurt her. But, Bonnie is exhausted. She had nothing left to give anymore and if Kai of all people is willing to take care of her. Then sheâll let him, at the very least it will stop him from killing someone.
âBonnie.â Itâs said quietly as he softly sets a cup of water on the nightstand, her body slightly jerks at the sound in the otherwise silent house. âI had to siphon the excess magic that you were letting off. Otherwise you would have raised the town and everyone would have died. I swear to you that I didnât take more than the excess. Youâre coming down now, Iâve put some water on your nightstand and Iâll leave you to recover.â
All Bonnie can do is slowly blink at him, the words swirl around in her head not making any real sense. When Kai moves to leave, Bonnie reaches out and catches his hand and holds on tightly. He stares at her with wide eyes and doesnât move as Bonnie scrambles to figure out why she just did that.
âPlease.â It comes out a mixture between a whimper and a whisper and Bonnie finds herself horrified. Yet, Kai seems to catch on right away and carefully pries her hand from his while kicking off his shoes. He carefully crawls under the covers with her and wraps himself around her. Bonnie presses herself closer, needing something other than herself to help her ground. Kai pulls her tighter to himself and lightly runs his fingers along her arms.
âLife is about the capability for adaptation to the winds of change, Bonnie. So, adapt, adapt, adapt, adapt.â Those are the last words she heard as she drifted off into the unknown, adjusting her sails to pick up the wind.
