"50 Tales for 50 Years: A Celebration of Barbara Gordon" - 2005: The Battle Within: During 2004's "Batman: War Games" arc, The Watchtower where Oracle (Barbara Gordon) operates was destroyed during a battle between Batman and Black Mask. With the Watchtower destroyed, for a brief time in Gail Simone's run on the Birds of Prey publication she leaves Batman and Gotham City behind and works in Metropolis. From this uprooting comes two thrilling arcs comprised in the story "The Battle Within" illustrated by Joe Bennett in issues 76 to 85 (January - October 2005). After the Birds travel to Singapore hunting down drug lords with the aid of Wildcat, Oracle attains a virus by the villain Brainiac that not only has her communicate psychically with computer systems but she also begins sprouting cyber attachments on her body (cover art to issue 83 by Adriana Melo, Will Conrad and Hi-Fi Design presented). With the help of Doctor Mid-Nite, the virus is removed from her body and for a brief period of time, she can move her toes, but this miracle of sorts goes away and she is still paralyzed. We will have more Birds of Prey and Oracle in our retrospect. ✌🏼💜💛📖🎨🎉

Spotlight Dr. Joel Bordeaux - Batman, Buddhism & Bricolage: Grant Morrison’s ‘Ego Death’ of The Dark Knight  Interview Highlights: Joel begins by sharing how he came to write about Grant Morrison's Batman RIP, and then we dive into many Buddhist concepts that Morrison uses in their story. As Joel explains these concepts, he also points out how Morrison uses them differently than a Buddhist practicioner would - this due to the great influence of Western occult ideas (such as initiation, the Abyss, and ego-death) taken from Aleister Crowley, among others.  Our discussion points out that in fact, Morrison draws on many different sources in the creation of their Batman story, and this leads to some interesting thoughts about the notion of occulture, and creativity.
